Hello - all internal and external audio/sounds from my gen 2 R1S have stopped functioning. No music, turn signal indicators, external locking sounds, proximity warning, etc. I’ve tried soft and hard reboots several times, with no luck. Rivian Service can’t see the vehicle for a month, which feels a bit too long for a failure of critical safety systems.

Has anyone ran into this before? Is there another fix I can try beyond a reboot?

Have you just let the vehicle sit for an hour or so? Sometimes when it goes to sleep some things reset.

Try letting it sleep, that might help.
If it doesn't work, you should definitely call Rivian. With safety issues they are able to get you in sooner.

This started yesterday. Since then, it sat overnight unplugged and today I plugged it in and let it sit again for four hours as it charged. No dice

Call them and push on the safety factor.

Just walking away from it is not enough to get the vehicle to 'sleep'. You need to turn off gear guard, proximity unlock, wifi, and then force close the app on your phone (also keep key fob away from vehicle). I believe this is all, but if you search around or contact service they can tell you specifically. Once you do that let the vehicle sit for a few hours with nothing plugged in or that could cause it to stay awake. This will allow the vehicle to full 'sleep' and can help with some issues.

I don't do any of those things and mine sleeps like a baby. Those steps aren't necessary unless you are in close proximity with a key all the time.

I’m thinking of all the people here who have begged to be able to turn off all those sounds :giggle:

My Gen 1 R1T goes to sleep (screens off, lights off, etc.) also but if you have any of those things running the computers never really sleep. They are always listening for the Bluetooth or wifi or the gear guard is running. You don't see a difference externally, it just allows the computers to stop doing background tasks.

The key functions are still on whether you use proximity or not, because all keys use Bluetooth. If those processes or computers halted like you said, then you could never unlock the vehicle unless you remotely woke the truck first. This would render the vehicle useless if you were in an area without cell or wifi coverage. Obviously not the case.

Just curious - when you say "external sounds" - you mean like the "wooshing" pedestrian noise it makes at low speed? Even that? At a guess, I'd say the audio amplifier has failed or come unplugged. But 🤷

I'd also call and push for a faster appointment due to a safety issue. Good luck, let us know how they get it resolved for you.

The Denver SC was able to get me in on Tuesday and I just got it back today. It was the amplifier - apparently it went bad/lost power and it was replaced. I’m surprised the internal and external safety systems run off the same amp as the internal entertainment system.

Sorry, but that‘s just incorrect. I’m running the Rivian plug in for Home Assistsnt. It retrieves the detailed log data from Rivian. Rivian’s logs show vehicle mode. What Rivian officially refers to as ‘Sleep’ occurs regularly without doing any of the things you described. You are creating your own definition of what sleeping is.

Yes, it is tue that certain subsystems such as Bluetooth never 100% power down, but that does not mean it is not sleeping as defined by Rivian. Does your heart and brain shutdown when you sleep?
