I have melted gummy bears and chapstick in my Tesla with cabin overheat protection on if they were sitting out in the sun I really don’t think it’s needed. I think most of you operate your car ac like the a/c in your house which is why it never cools down. Just put it on LO It was 95 yesterday and I turned on my R1T to cool it down and it was 45 when I got in it. My R1T cools faster then my 23’ Tesla M3P.Agree it's bad. If you say anything negative about Rivian, suggest features, improvements, changes, etc, you'll get chewed up by the Rivian forum "regulars". It's interesting to see the upvotes for their defensive posts rack up as other regulars join in to support Rivian. The level of immaturity and Rivian protectionism here can be excessive. Some people just don't understand that criticism is what drives improvement. Suggestions/complaints may not fix our vehicles but it will improve future iterations of Rivian's new models.
As to the OP's suggestion, Rivian desperately needs an OPTION for owners to automatically cool the vehicle down in hot conditions. I've seen the temp approach 130 degrees in my R1S when it's only 83 degrees outside. Things left inside the vehicle (NOT in direct sunlight) like lip balm turn into liquid. This never happened in my Lightning or Tesla. This isn't just a convenience feature, that extreme heat can't possibly be good for all the internal components and finishes in the cabin. At the very least there should be a ventilation fan that kicks on when the temp reaches 110 degrees. No compressor is needed and the electricity consumption can't be much... maybe 100-200 watts or so. My vehicle is losing 2-3% of charge a day just being parked. If Rivian allocated that parasitic energy loss to running a small fan I wouldn't mind the loss.
