I think this type of poll will generally be filled by those that are searching motor failure problems. So I don’t think there is a clear sailing vote is truly representative of the actual number.

This is (so far) a pretty small sample size, but an overall 12% drive motor failure rate, split pretty evenly between quad and dual is not encouraging. It would be good to know more detail about the failures, such as if they occur on early vehicles or are spread more randomly, whether they are front or rear, etc.
What we also don't know is the ratio of Quad vs Dual in # of unifs on the road. This could change the fail rate % significantly.

I thought I'd be replying to say I had the motor replaced, but in the end the inverter sealing had failed, causing intermittent faults inside. They just needed to replace the front inverter. Apparently a new part revision from what shipped with my May '23 build. So no motor replacement.

Gen 1 R1T Dual Motor
I have a Gen 1 Dual Motor R1T and have had my rear drive unit replaced twice. The first failure had a large persistent clunking followed by a violent jolt on the highway and the car went into turtle mode. The second failure was the result of a similar persistent clunking due to the disconnected trying to engage when it wasn’t supposed to (Or that’s how they explained it). Now, the issue has returned and currently pursing a lemon claim.

2024 Gen 1 Quad. Rear right drive unit catastrophic* failure at 3K miles. Disconnect clutch failed. Fortunately since this was the rear, system forced itself into conserve using only front drive units. Happened while on a camping trip 1,500 miles from home.

2022 R1T here, vin in the 30xx range. Front drive unit replaced at 28k miles; not due to any faults but instead a grinding noise emitted above 60mph that you could also feel in the pedals. Also replaced my front sub frame with the gen2 retrofit as the old frame's mounting holes had been maligned and made it where not everything would even fit back together after being taken apart.
Was the grinding noise between coasting and regen? I have that currently, same year and vin range.

R1S Quad 2023- We just had exactly the same issue around 5-10 minutes into a drive a motor failure warning on dashboard and speed limited to 42mph. I was also on an interstate so this warning and slow drive was quite uncomfortable. Brought car back home. Spoke with service person, did the hard reboot. Took the car for service next day. They coudnt find the issue and nothing was changed or done. Doesnt give much confidence. I do feel bit concerned driving this

Same issue just occurred with mine (2022 R1T 30xx vin range) at 42k miles. Took about 4 days for it to go from just a strange noise to completely failing while driving at low speed. No warning lights, messages, or anything, just loud scraping / thuds while moving. Vehicle towed to service center and front drive unit is on order.
