So I do a lot of traveling and I’ve stopped at a lot of charging stations over the past two years. Now that they’ve opened up more Tesla points and ias able to cut nearly 2 hours off my trip by traveling through West Virginia, but one of the charging place was in Princeton, West Virginia.

It’s not a bad location, they got a gas station. They got a Starbucks, they got a fantastic restaurant called teriyaki madness.

But the physical space around the chargers what is possibly the dirtiest nastiest Charger I’ve been to. I couldn’t even tell you if you could walk 5 feet without having a step over multiple piles of dog dung, the parking lot was skewered with trash, and at least two of the chargers, had a strange lean to them, which I’m sure was not in the original design.

I pulled in with about 12% state of charge and stayed around until I hit 85% and it never topped 130 kW/h.

I did meet a nice couple and another Rivian R1 S who pulled in and admiring my pups…

That’s all nothing horrific just a dirty nasty charging point which has a ton of potential

Not surprising, and I bet they’ve done Leon a solid too and are using the dirtiest of dirty coal to power those Superchargers for extra good measure.

Well what’s worse, some trash and dog poop or heroin addicts loitering around and staring while charging my Tesla at the Sheetz in Huntington, WV

This is really bringing back memories from when we used to travel through WV for the holidays. I don’t miss it; it always seemed dreary and sketchy.

A couple of years ago I took one of my daughters backpacking in the Dolly Sods Wilderness in WV. After our trip we stopped at the first Sheetz we passed to wash up and get some Treatz. When we left my daughter said: "Dad...stereotypes exist for a reason." It summed it up nicely!

I took a UTV through the DEEP back woods of Appalachia, exactly where Deliverance was filmed in NC. At a gas station, I heard an odd sentence from behind the pump, possibly English-like but muddled. Not mumbled, a very unique indecipherable odd pattern. I look over and there's a guy with a globe-shaped head, eyes less than an inch apart, and his mouth was closer to one side than the other. Ears were not aligned. I never did figure out what he was saying, and he wandered off after my attempts to ask.

Edit to add: It was not a purty mouth, boah.

I have a charging horror story so bad that I've been repressing the memory. Just thinking about it makes my heart race and my body shake.
I stopped at a station near a coffee shop. I went in to order some life-sustaining fluids, and their espresso machine was broken! Oh the humanity.

We live perched somewhere between the extremes of the universe.

Beverly Hills charging station, no doubt:

When we expect a lot from government at every level, and when we make sure the resources are there for public services, all of us benefit.

When we disinvest in education, health care, and jobs, we get the results we should expect.

There was a time when BOTH large political parties recognized this. I hope they still do.

Best to all!
