"Claim" is the operative word... let's see what Refresh owners actually experience.

This is not directed at you @cwang089:
"Their engineers said it was a major problem for gen 1 due to charging the 12v" ... then us Gen 1 owners should be able to connect a dual channel Battery Tender to keep the 12V batt(s) completely topped up when not using the vehicle for longer stretches which would prevent the vehicle from waking up just to charge the 12V batt(s).
it would be nice if they did address that specifically. There is probably more efficiency loss to wake an entire car if it is just trying to charge the 12v than putting a battery tender on for extended periods of time.

Agreed! The fact that they have supposedly addressed the issue on the Refresh vehicle is admitting they had lots of complaints about it in the gen 1 vehicles.
They don't change something under the skin that's not problematic.

Totally agree. My now “old” 2023 T still makes me smile every time I drive it.
Second your sentiment w my 2023 R1T - best truck on the planet and no regrets. I have to pinch myself every time I drive it; is a world class sports car performance vehicle married to 11K towing and truck bed capacity actually real? And I get to drive one every day???

It's such a pretty car too. Love seeing it every day. Sometimes I really enjoy the few times I'm not driving it and get to admire the exterior.

If I’m going to spend $95k, I don’t mind spending $5-15k more for MASSIVE upgrades, even if it means losing the great lease promotions of the 2024 R1S. Just read this story in 5-10 minutes: Meet the New R1.

Gen 2 of any vehicle offers the most significant potential for improvement and refinement. Upgrading to Gen 3 or Gen 4 will likely take much longer OR bring only minor changes. Wouldn’t you agree?

Yep, unless you need the R1S's size and 3rd row, it's most like going to be better waiting for the R2 instead of upgrading now. The R2 could easily end up benefiting from even better chips -- either faster or lower power or both -- updated sensors, better battery cells, overall better efficiency, maybe 800V charging -- although I won't hold my breath -- or other small updates.

It will obviously not be as feature rich as an R1, but I'll bet the trim levels will line up reasonably well for comfort and materials. If Rivian's smart they'll have similar Explore, Adventure/Premium, and Ascent trim across all models even if the feature set isn't exactly the same between R1 Explore and R2 Explore. That would be similar to the way other brands tend to handle it (e.g. Audi's Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige)
I think the biggest thing that waiting a couple more years might change is battery technology. I know its always been a year or two away but there are some battery production lines being setup this year and next for batteries with much higher densities and charging rates.
