I am glad you posted this - I meant to do this after my thanksgiving trip to Sedona from SoCal but got busy with life... I went to 2 different EA with very low charge and kids in the car in unfamiliar territory - changed multiple chargers, spoke with EA 2x - overall about one hour on phone with them trying resetting two of the chargers - eventually I realized it was my car and not the chargers after someone was successful on a charger I had failed on - called Rivian - sorted in minutes! I only charge with EA because generally I find them the best out there but this was a Baaad hiccup :) Early days I guess - I love my R1T no matter what :)
Hi,

What did Rivian say was the issue and how did you solve it?

Hi,

What did Rivian say was the issue and how did you solve it?
The solution was hard resetting the car by pressing the far left button on the wheel at the same time as the hazard light button holding for a few seconds. I don’t quite remember what the cause was, but I think I was told sometimes a charger can do something to the car that locks the car to the charger and then it will not accept any other charger. Now I don’t know if the initial problem is caused by electrify America charger or the truck.

I'm also sick of the bitching about EA chargers "f'ck up". A complaint is fine when you have a problem, but the incessant bitching is not. If you don't like it, don't use it. As it is with the current state of chargers availability, I wouldn't be able to make any long trip without a stop at an EA charger station. I'm thankful for what I can get.

Clarifying question- in this scenario you’ve plugged the vehicle in and tried to start charging, but received an error message. Is the error displayed on interior screens in the truck? Charger display? Both?
additionally- did you unplug the vehicle from the charger when doing the reset (left thumb + hazard) or do the reset while plugged in?
thanks-

Honestly, if you don't want to hear complaints regarding charging, don't read the complaint threads. Easy as that.
Charging is a huge huge part of EV ownership, issues should be out in the open.

AS I said, complaints are ok. I read the complaint threads to learn about issues, and I do complain about issues myself. The Incessant bitchings are really tiresome - you cannot unread them, and these types of bitching don't solve the problems whatsoever!

For me - it just kept saying please unplug and plug charger back in. EA just couldn't make a connection to the truck.

It's already in your user manual.
No wait a minute. Here comes this guy trying to bring common sense into the discussion. No one actually reads or even knows that they have a manual with all sorts of good info and how to’s right at their fingertips. Most people didn’t look in the manual when it was an actual paper book in their glove compartment so now you’re really reaching to think anyone would look up how to fix an issue these days. ?

Kyle Conner is pointing out the same thing that happened to me:

The whole giving the rivian more then it's asking for is why I needed to reset. The manual doesn't tell you that.
