To make a long story short I will be unable to drive for the next 14-16 weeks...should I just plug in the R1S set battery to 80 percent charge and leave it or what else should I do..I do plan on putting a sun block in the windshield ...

Thanks in advance for the help

Plug in with a sun shade should be good. Definitely keep it plugged in at 70% not 80 if it’s going to sit that long.

There is a storage/transport setting for Rivian.

I recommend calling the service and ask what is the best thing to do.

Just about everything I've ever read about not driving Li-Ion BEV for a long time is to have it plugged in and set the SOC to 50%, not 70~80%.

I’d plug it in and set the charge target to 50%. It will slowly lose charge until it hits 50% and keep it there for the best battery health.
That's what The Count does too. 50% using L1.

Not sure where you live but a vehicle sitting still for 3-4 months is a prime target for pests to nest in. Mothballs or something else all around and under the car.

Perfect thank you I usually have it set to 85 percent ....
My R1S has been sitting in my garage in storage, undriven, for 6 months. Shipping mode, power set to off in camping mode, SOC set to 50%, recharge when it gets down to 20%. Have charged three times. Time between charges changed from 20 days to 81 days after I plugged in a battey tender to OBD port.

Leave plugged into a L1 outlet and set it at 50-60%.

I'd also echo the thought on something to keep chewing critters away...even if it's sitting in your garage.

I have a similar situation coming up. Would it be also ok to leave plugged into L2 charger with charge set to 50 percent inside the garage?
Was planning on leaving at 70 percent charge with L2 charger.
L1 is not an option for me in the garage because GFCI plus keeps tripping every time car starts to charge.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Depending on where you park it, consider pest deterrents and/or traps. Particularly if it's outside.

Note: I have a pathological hatred of wild rats based entirely on disease and what they can do when left unchecked. Hate, hate, hate.

Some little bastards got to my lime tree and it required me going into an active shooting war (with traps). Once the population was under control (with the help of the neighbor's cats), the Cold War began - this seems to be doing a great job so far. Bonus: it smells decent.
