R2 PPF options for interior hard plastic?

The Out of Spec detailing fit and finish video highlights how the R2's use of hard plastic injection molding for many interior parts will leave them highly prone to permanent scuffing. I can totally see how this will be the case for the lower parts of the driver/passenger doors with boots kicking up against them getting in and out, gear/bags scuffing the rear cargo area, etc.

What options if any exist out there for PPF'ing these parts specifically?

I'm not as keen to pay for a full PPF including the exterior.

Pitch to all the PPF shops out there for, and s00n please before we all scuff the crap out of these R2's coming out

Just IMO but it’s not that serious. It’s a $60k adventure vehicle with crazy power and durable materials where it matters. It’s not a $300k Porsche. I can personally live with it at this price point. PPF on the inside does not seem worth it.

If the R2 is a success and there are parts that can be prone to scratches there will be an aftermarket solution in time.

PPF=Paint Protection Film. On inside???? Didn't know there is such a thing.

Aside from keeping it clean on the regular basis, and not have your dog claw scratches on the plastic - which will go through any protection film - if you travel with your pet, then I see no need for anything inside.

Best solution is to take care getting in and out of the vehicle as well as placing items in and out of vehicles.

It’s not rally that big of a deal. Unless you’re an absolute caveman getting in and out of your car, it will be a non-issue IMHO.

They make interior vinyl wrap for vehicles. I think that's what the OP is thinking about.

Just use the car. So easy to get wrapped up in all the online content obsessing about quality, panel gaps, materials etc. Reality is it‘s just a car at the end of the day. A depreciating asset.

If you use it/abuse it to the point the plastic is beat up it’s all replaceable. Most likely by that point you will have a new car to replace it.

Personally, I love the price point, the size of the vehicle and plastic. This R2 is my 4th Rivian. Two R1S, one R1T and all were Ascend interiors. That interior is/was stunning - and so were the cars.

But honestly, I’m so excited that this isn’t a $100k plus adventure vehicle. yes, I want mine to stay nice and will take great care of it.. but I also want to use the car and enjoy it.

suffice to say, interior PPF is just a little too much for me.

They are overreacting after Teslas, which don't have much exposed plastic. Almost every other $45k car (which is r2's level, not 60k) has plenty of plastic, and it doesn't scratch that easily. I would just protect the wheel wells somehow if you're going to load things like bikes inside or sleep in the car. They just don't look very cozy.

Yeah, you will never regain what the PPF cost, it's silly unless you're doing a color/finish change.

Exactly (minus PPF'ing in the past). PPF just doesn't seem worth it. My car currently has just a few rock chips on the front bumper accumulated from over 46,000 miles of driving. And even those, I can only see up close when I'm hand washing the car. Any other time, I don't even notice. The sides and rear of the car are blemish-free.

I'm planning on using the money otherwise wasted on PPF to tint the roof.

The @twraps WPF (exterior film) does a fantastic job of stopping heat before it enters, and will provide rock strike protection.
