I don’t think optimizing for Tesla superchargers is the goal hereYea ... that location is not going to help at supercharger locations. Plenty of time for them to move it to the rear driver side. Or put it on front passenger side as many people hate backing into spaces.
Ironically, look at where the charging door is on the prototype R1 in your user avatar -- opposite side as where it is right now. They knew they were going to go with the Tesla charging port and still decided to go with the wrong location for it!
Hopefully the V4s are far more prevalent by the time 26 rolls in.
True. Didn't even see that.Ironically, look at where the charging door is on the prototype R1 in your user avatar -- opposite side as where it is right now.
Tesla is driver's side rear.I think I understand why, that's where Tesla puts it. So you have to remember that maybe because of that weird parking position if you go into a Tesla charger you take up two spots. I could be totally wrong
It could be a compliance issue. In the EU, fuel filler doors are on the passenger side so that if you run out of gas and are filling from a portable container on the side of the road you are on the opposite side of the car from traffic. It could be that the regs don't differentiate between fuel and charging ports yet, and we know Rivian plans to export these to the EU.What clear advantage does putting it on the passenger side give?
