R2 Wish List?

Really good list. I’d add:

-True sunroof that opens.
-stellar stereo (even if an option)
-available factory off road package with integrated winch, rock sliders, under body armor, locker(s), full size spare, adjustable TPMS and tire size, integrated trail maps, extra accessory switches (soft switches ok, but hardware to enable 12V accessories like lights), Off road cruise control, etc.

I was thinking today about a feature I seen on s Hyundai Tucson, When you turn on the turn signal a camera view of your blind spot popped up on the screen in front of you. I really liked that and it would be a cool thing to have.

Love this post. Pretty much what I'm after. I'm not interested in a sunroof myself, I'd rather a hard top without added cost/complexity, and I dont even know what a stellar stereo is, but everything else is a 100% yes from me

personally I feel charge port should be on the passenger side to enable kerbside charging (at least for a slow charger). Middle of the front would be cool. I seem to recall some american muscle cars (was it the original mustang?) that had the fuel filler neck behind the numberplate.
What is a pin to drive?

What is a pin to drive?

Pin to Drive is an Extra layer of security that doesn’t allow the car to go in gear without a PIN code entered similar to phones. In case someone gets in your vehicle they wouldn’t be able to steal it unless they have that code. Tesla has this feature available for their cars. It’s great for when you have curious children around as well.

Curbside charging isn’t being built where we are in Los Angeles that quickly. And the ones that are out there are ICED out because there’s such a lack of street parking as it is. In the next few years we’ll have to see if it takes off. But my guess is more RAN or other group stations or people are gonna have to invest in their own home charging.

The Nissan LEAF charge port is middle of the front. It's much easier to pull in forward to a parking spot than to try to back in.

For what it's worth, put the charge port on the R2 passenger side front. Allows for "normal" pulling into the parking spot and allows for curbside charging. As a bonus it allows an R2 to only take up one Tesla SC stall.

Other R2 wishes:

• Remove 2nd glovebox (reduce cost).
• Remove passenger side handwarmer (reduce cost).
• V2L capability.
• Dual-Action Tailgate - window drops into the tailgate when dropped down. Tailgate used for seating which would remove the sliding seat thing Rivian showed in the prototype. OR tailgate swings open from the side to easily access items in the storage area. See Honda Ridgeline tailgate.
• Remove venting back storage area windows (reduce cost). The back window already drops so much more airflow through the cabin with that if needed.

My suggestion is to make the frunk rectangular. The R1 Frunk looks big at first, but the actual usable space is much smaller than it seems if you are hoping to but any sort of box shaped item in it due to the odd shape of the funk.

Also, keep the R1's power opening/closing frunk. The funk is 100x more likely to be used when it is fully powered.

I 2nd the power frunk. I have a 2021 Mach E currently and the frunk is not powered in anyway. I rarely use it.

2nd glovebox is kinda cool, but not a must have, and the handwarmer just isn't necessary for me. V2L is an absolute want (240v, 15amp). Re the fold-down tailgate, no reason why they can't put a tray under the floor for a full sized spare that can double as a seat..
Also, the back venting is kinda neat, it'd be handy here in Australia, especially if you didn't want to drop the rear window..

I second the suggestion to make the frunk rectangular. Also, power opening frunk would be enough for me, especially if you could open it while your hands are busy. I'd be happy with manual closing frunk though, wouldn't bother me

From viewing all the R2 videos out there, like Kyle’s OOS, it seems that Rivian is open for suggestions. Curious to see what everyone’s top 3 features you would like to see on the R2 that you may not have seen yet?

Off the top for me in no particular order:

• improved cameras compared to r1s
• air compressor
• 220 in the back

I would definitely want a whole home backup capability living in Florida. With my solar system and an R2 with backup available through the charge port I could power necessities for as long as necessary.
