The orange side mirrors might work on a different color scheme. To me, combined with the lights, makes this car look like a reindeer wearing spectacles. Seeing the Scout and the Cybertruck, I'm becoming more and more convinced that the vertical oval light language was a poor design choice. They're just too goofy and emasculating to take the car seriously.

While I was really into the design language of the headlights, I fear it won’t age well and needs some modernization. A slimmer version of the same design would go a long way

slimmer like a skinnier oval?

I guess time will tell but I feel like the head lights and light bar on Rivian’s could end up being iconic and timeless like the headlights on the Porsche 911.

Porsche did change the 911 headlights with the 996 911s (1999-2004 model years). It was not well received at all so they changed it back.

That said it’s only for the 911 and they have different design language for other models.

I saw this in Austin yesterday. I liked it. It’s a little bigger looking in person than it seems in pictures. If Rivian can survive long enough to produce this, and if the price is right, it will sell well.

The 2027 waiting period is ridiculous. Now that Rivian and VW have teamed up, why doesn't Rivian build their R3/R3X lineup at the new VW Scout facility in S. Carolina? The plant is intended to do contract manufacturing.

The scout isn’t coming out until 2027 at the earliest so how can Rivian make the R3X before that?

It would also be a good reason to fix the design flaw that owners out west have been screaming about for the last two winters: "the headlights freeze over when heading in to driving snow". That large flat slab/lens works better then my party icemaker at freezing any water it comes in contact with.
Many other brands with more conventional shaped lenses also using LED headlights don't have this problem.

that’s a big if. They will survive but I see no way they will with the current operating model. It’s just not scalable and the cracks are showing.

Fortunately or unfortunately there has to be big changes ahead.
