1)The facility is already built. 2) The facility is designed to handle other makes. Just because Scout is coming out in 2027 that doesn't mean it can't build other models.

Custom tooling and jigs are required for each model, regardless of whether the facility already exists. By the time those were built it would have a negligible effect on the delivery time compared to the cost of doing it.

The orange side mirrors might work on a different color scheme. To me, combined with the lights, makes this car look like a reindeer wearing spectacles. Seeing the Scout and the Cybertruck, I'm becoming more and more convinced that the vertical oval light language was a poor design choice. They're just too goofy and emasculating to take the car seriously.
most people would disagree. i think the Scout headlights look worse than the Rivian. that being said, design is subjective. one thing you can't argue is they have created an iconic look. you know immediately its a Rivian.

The oval headlights are indeed distinctive and set the truck abart from the herd of agressive angles and angry lights on the likes of Toyota and Chevy. (Which are killer looking trucks in thier own right)

Not sure if you need to hear this, 13Electrics, but for the sake of other readers of these posts Uncle Rip is gonna preach for a second, gather round and take a knee:

Don’t let the shape of your headlights emasculate you. Zebras are striped to blend in with the herd is the hope the lion never pulls their card. You are not your clothes, your truck, or the oval light. You are what you say and do. In the words of Chuck Palahniuk(author, Fight Club) “You are not your f*cking khakis”

Dare to stand out, and when your masculinity is challenged, rise to the occasion. This is my Ted Talk. Ready, break!

Rivian Space in Austin, Texas? I was there too!

That parking area is a bit tight.

Be prepared to be branded on the back of your thighs by those metal oval accents in the seats. A few hours in the scorching sun ought to do the trick!

It would also be a good reason to fix the design flaw that owners out west have been screaming about for the last two winters: "the headlights freeze over when heading in to driving snow". That large flat slab/lens works better then my party icemaker at freezing any water it comes in contact with.
Many other brands with more conventional shaped lenses also using LED headlights don't have this problem.
But the other guy liked CT lights and theirs is even worse in snow. I'm looking for some good old Halogens when I head west.

It's 100% a known issue with LEDs unfortunately. My 2012 Plug-In-Prius had squirters on the LED headlights, and it worked great to wash away collected snow/ice. Toyota realized it early on and successfully addressed in a very inexpensive way.

While I was really into the design language of the headlights, I fear it won’t age well and needs some modernization. A slimmer version of the same design would go a long way
How about the horizontal orientation I proposed in 2022 and someone here mocked up

The singing mouth burned Edsal into our history. We have twins
Learning to live with it and all we get to see while in the cabin is the interesting reflections on tailgates, bumpers, and decks of the vehicle in front
I’m starting an album

I know I am long overdue for an update but I promise I will deliver soon. Life has been hectic but don't stress, I already have everything we need saved down to my phone.

Here is a nice big fat teaser update and another sneak peak for y’all....R2

@ Rivian : Thanks for always making our journey to a Spaces location a memorable experience. I love the rooftop level view too.

Awesome pictures. Yes, this was at the Austin location. Parking is tricky for sure. Here is a nice shot last time we were there for the opening event.

I put the Rain-X product for plastic on my lights and it eliminated this issue.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

How can headlights be emasculating? It makes the vehicle look approachable, friendly, and unique. So many other vehicles just look the same with different badging.

Yeah, those aren’t going to make production. Ouch!
