Just watching all of the deliveries this month, I'd have to agree with the OP that the 21s are definitely the way to go if you want your truck early. I can see removing the spare helping as well. The main reason I won't do that is due to the multiple flat tires that were seen on the off roading videos last year. Off roading is also the main reason I'll keep waiting for a truck that has 20" ATs. The 21s are tempting though.

Another item I'm thinking on is the tonneau cover. With all of the technical issues around it, I'd like to take it off my order. But I'm concerned that may cause a delay. I haven't seen a single R1T delivered without a tonneau. I haven't seen a manual one either.

Especially with an unusual tire size (as I understand that the 21" tire is), having a spare tire would be of great benefit; having to have your truck towed, and left disabled for days or weeks, while waiting for a replacement tire, would suck. A spare tire on the order, though, shouldn't be a significant impediment - they can ship the spare tire, later (and I have read that this has happened).

You are correct. West coast does get a great deal of love for deliveries. It’s crazy because I see R1Ts pretty regularly here.

Yeah, I am by no means an early reservation, but Rivian is sending the clear message that unless you live in a large population center, expect your truck late next year/early 2024. I'm not sure how many people will be able to afford double-digit interest rates on $100k trucks by then.

I get it when people are hard set on specific items or packages. But if you are just dying to get your R1T You may get a quick build by doing the following. Parts of this have been mentioned elsewhere. So I tried it and I got a prepare to build confirmation 3 days later.

add 21” wheels
Remove spare
Add black interior
Add adventure package

my reservation date is sept 2021 so not super early but not real recent either.

Mine is almost this but with spare, still waiting. Tried taking the spare out, still waiting. Put the spare back on and figure…Sept isn’t that far away. I’d rather get the spare

I had a 2023 estimate with 20” and spare. Took those off and it went fast. Who knows maybe they had my exact build ready because in 1 day I had all my steps done too. It moves VERY fast once they say they will build.

Right, but interest rates will be getting upward corrections until inflation levels out, meaning double digits are not only possible next year, but likely.

Without a spare I would recently have had to have my vehicle towed and then sit parked for 10 days waiting for a replacement tire which was on backorder for my size. At least with the spare donut I was able to get home, grocery shop, etc until a new tire arrived. Unfortunately the old tire took a very large screw in the shoulder meaning it was not repairable and had to be replaced. Here in the DFW area, I can't imagine life without a spare - it's come in handy far too many times.

I want to know where all these people live that have never needed a spare. I've put more holes in my tires just driving on DFW highways than I ever have off road. Blew out the side wall on my Jeep on TX-114 going around DFW airport once. Must be nice to have roads not full of debris.

I agree. The last blow out I had was on my Ram 1500 in DFW area close to the airport. It was on 121 instead of 114 but same issue with debris on the road.

I wonder if color is a factor for later reservation holders. I personally know a few deliveries in Seattle who preordered around the same time as I did with the same configuration, but with super popular colors like FG and El Cap. I also added a charger, but not sure if that matters. Color is just about the only thing I refuse to compromise on, since it’s the one thing I can’t fix later.
