How does the industry not realize that any charge station without basic services like a restroom will do anything other than deter families from doing road trips in fully electric vehicles?

Sometimes you do have to get "resourceful" to find a restroom. I have used a charging station (EA) at a bank before, and as everyone knows, banks aren't exactly known for public restrooms. I walked a couple blocks away and used a rest room at a public library. Glad it was open when I got there. And I fully agree it wasn't exactly convenient, probably even less so for those with kids. Unfortunately, I didn't find any easy lunch options at that stop either.

I've only been to three RANs (East Greenwich, Kittery and Freeport) but they were all very nicely located.

Well lit at night, shade during the day, bathrooms, and trash. My wishlist for charging stops in order of importance. Shopping, food options, and something for to entertain the kids are bonus.

If I can't charge in the rain without getting wet, buy an espresso and a pastry, and use the nice clean restroom, then it's not a proper charging location. See also: Europe.

Sounds like this thread is mostly jokes, but I agree with OP that not having access to a bathroom 24/7 kinda sucks, even if you're not traveling with a family. A lot of EA stations are at Walmarts, but they're not 24/7. I'm not one to be above using nature to my advantage in these cases, but not everyone is - especially if it's cold, raining, or both. Walmart parking lots aren't always surrounded by wooded urinals either.

Tesla is not immune to this poor placement either, as I've been at a few superchargers with zero open amenities. Part of me wants to believe that these stations were chosen because they were the only places available with power, and that having some DCFC is better than none at all. It's worth planning around these places so I either don't have to stop there or I can find something that's open elsewhere on the trip.
