One does not have to believe in climate change causes to understand negative impacts of fossil fuel consumption. Simply route all tailpipes into the vehicle and let the driver and passengers decide if they think the breathing of these emissions is good for them. then let the market decide their choice of fuel.
Ha, along those lines...how about the same with our gas stoves, dryers and furnaces ;)

Hence the push in many areas to eliminate those. For better or worse. In my region gas is a lot more expensive than electric. Personally I can't wait to get rid of my last gas appliance and never have to pay that gas bill again. 🙂

This may not be a popular idea in this forum, but Tesla has the cash reserves and stock market cap to acquire Rivian. And now that the Cybertruck is officially a flop, Tesla needs real vehicles in the truck and SUV category. Note that the Model Y is a "crossover" not an SUV!

In the next two years while Musk is vesting his $30B in new stock grants, Rivian can roll out the R2. RJ can prepare Rivian for production at scale and building out the infrastructure gaps. And then who knows what lies ahead for the two CEOs.

As an owner of a Performance Model 3, solar panels, and a Powerwall I can attest that Tesla technology is top notch! Musk has always been an ass, but getting Rivian up to the Tesla standards of quality and scalability would be a good thing.
The problem is, that's exactly what Musk, Thiel, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Cook and the other billionaires influencing public policy want. Starve companies like Rivian for oxygen and then scoop them up for cheap. Fill in the same blanks for farmland, real estate, companies, etc.

I can’t tell you how many small companies that I buy from have already sent emails about price increases. And small companies drive the economy, as does consumer spending. Prices are going up and will continue to go up in a step function to compensate for the tariffs.
I just saw another one of these earlier today. This is from a small business that a lot of my friends support. So infuriating and frustrating. That said, "the malignent f**womble" is a pretty hilarious comment. 😜

We need a carbon tax like 50 years ago.

Ugh, that’s pretty bad again. Trending to dip below 40k annualized sales.

I’ll reiterate my unpopular opinion that Scaringe should go and an Ops person should replace him.

Sales are down 21% so far this year compared to 2024. Tesla was always growing on their way to launching the Model 3. Rivian is not doing the same.

I hold out hope that management change will catalyze the company! It’s too cool of a car/truck to have it fade away.
I'm just a schlub, but when I picked up my truck at the factory, he arrived and came right over. He has a lot of charisma and I don't think the board would ever consider removing him. Everyone wants to make money fast I guess. I spoke to him again at an open house. He doesn't reveal much to reporters or owners. He is perfectly comfortable at all the two times that I saw and talked to him. Everyone admires my truck. The time to buy the vehicle looks to be now. I bought stick at the dip prices three times and am comfortable with everything at the factory in Normal.
The Governor of IL is interested in the success of Rivian too.
The truck is delightful and reliable still at 70,000 miles.

9 pages of people arguing?
Compared to some other threads, this one ranks about 3 out of 10 on the "People Arguing" scale. ;)

Agreed, the talking heads in DC and the billionaires are evil. But I am going to be selfish also and want a great R2 with a viable company to back it for at least a couple of decades.
