You might try contacting Swiss Caps in Patriot, Indiana. They are a small company that manufactures their caps on-site. They do a lot of custom work. They make both aluminum and fiberglass caps. They are very well made and do not leak. I have had two of their aluminum caps over the las ten years.

They will color match the cap to the vehicle. I have had custom toolboxes installed in my caps. Their website is swisscaps.cc and their phone number is 812-594-2214.

Just thinking out loud, for me at least, if I wanted a camper shell, I likely would have just purchased the SUV instead. Yes, you give up the gear tunnel and some length, but in return, you get the added benefit of finished interior space. You would lose the ability to take the shell off the truck, but how often will people do that.
The tow rating of the R1S was the killer, it’s also nice not worrying about messing up a nice leather interior. I’ve owned several Land Cruisers and always end up ditching the third row and adding a weathertech mat. Still get marks on the seats and side paneling…

I do want a place that I can get dirty but is water tight. So, I definitely want the T with a cap. Back when I was going to FL in the winter I made a watertight cap for an open trailer I had. If you are handy it's not that hard, and I enjoy making things.
But I want my T with dual motor and max battery so I likely have a year or so to wait. A lot can happen in the aftermarket by then.
The interior glass ceiling cover is a nice idea. I sill might consider covering it with a something on top.

I emailed Swiss Caps, asking if they would consider making a cap for the R1T, noting that a lot of Rivian owners and future owners would likely be looking for a cap option.
Just got the reply: "No, sorry. i dont see us making one."

Someone yesterday had confirmed that Softopper is going make one for the R1T. Obviously not the solution if you require a hard cap, but I think theirs is a great solution As well.

I would like to see a topper that clips in to the roof mounts, covers the glass and then angles up to provide a little more height in the back for taller equipment and bikes. If I were to build one I would integrate solar panels in the portion over the cab and figure out how to feed the batteries to provide additional range and charging to combat the vampire drain.

With Rivian’s inability/desire to redesign the power tonneau cover, I would love to see them work with Lear/ARE to create a cap that attaches to the crossbar mounts.

I'm not an expert with Photoshop, but this would be a real world bed cap topper for our R1T

We need a manufacturer to make it happen.

@kayabusa Any updates on this? I would really like a hard topper as well and I'd rather buy one than make one but that isn't out of the question either.

Zero time to do a project like that. I hope someday we will see one.

Xtrusion Overland makes a rack for the R1T that would get you a few things... You can make it tall enough to match the roof bar height, meaning you'll have a straight mount from front to back, or you can match it to the roof height for better airflow... Then just use spacers if you want to match the roof bar height...
It's just a rack, so no sides/back or anything, but it'd get you a hard shell that mounts to the existing Rivian points, then you could try a custom fab for sides/rear if you really needed the lockable space...

There isn't really anything right now, but this might get you something if you're willing to throw a little work (and money) at it...
