Hi all,

I'm Just trying to see if ya'll have any experience with this. We sold our truck a few weeks ago, have two kids and sharing a vehicle atm. I'm just seeing if you have successfully changed your pick up dates?

Just ordered from the available inventory on the March 8th, completed all the steps, truck was in transit a few days later from IL by flat bed. Last week I received a text from the service center scheduling a tentative pickup date for the 29th.

I called the customer experience line and found out the truck has been at the San Diego Service Center, but I can't pick it up..

I know they have the delivery inspection, detailing, agreements to be finalized, and that can cause a delay I suppose. I have purchased a few Tesla's over the years so my experience with loan agreements and scheduling pickups has been a breeze prior.

Does anyone have any experience with getting ahold of the service center for an earlier pickup than what's scheduled? My Guide is adamant with not being able to take delivery unless the service center adjusts the date.

I moved mine to later and was no problem. I also tried earlier and that was a no-go.

They allocate about an hour to familiarize you with the vehicle - and do a test drive if you're interested. Based on backlog, that hour of availability may be a limiting factor for them?

Mine showed up at the service center before I even had a chance to start the 8 steps. They were bugging me to come get it LOL.

It’s a good thing the service centers do their own inspections, etc so I don’t blame them for not allowing pick up before that happens. Maybe you can stop by and sweet talk them into moving you up the list to take delivery sooner. Bring donuts.

That does sound like an idea, I don’t want to look like “that person” though lol

I was able to move my pick up date, but only via text directly with the service center. The same text you get confirming your delivery date.

Working with my guide to move up the date was not successful.

In my case, the vehicle came in earlier than expected so they were able to move up the date.

I was told by my guide that my R1S arrived at the service center a couple days ago. Im trying to see if they can reschedule my delivery date from 3/30 to 3/25.

Anyone know typically how many days the service center needs between when the car arrives to when they can deliver? I guess it depends on how many vehicles they are getting ready for delivery..which is probably a lot right now as we are in the end of quarter crunch

In my case it was two days from the date the vehicle arrived and my pick-up date. That was after asking for the delivery date to be moved up.

You would think they could.. just look it over, wash, and skip the whole sit down. That’s what I did with Tesla pickups.

how do you know if your vehicle is in transit and whether it's in a railcar or a flatbed or if it's coming from Normal or another SC? I was told in the email from my guide when i purchased it about a month ago that it was "on its final journey to you" and to hurry up and complete the steps (i.e. wire the $100k) so I could schedule delivery, which I did, immediately. I followed up with a text to the guide a few days later and she said it will be arriving at the SC in a month and I can probably pick it up a week after that..

...so now i finally have an appointment scheduled to get it next week, but never got any updates along the way other than the text a month ago.

ya, so far their info/process is not as great as my experience with Tesla. I’m fairly experienced with buying/selling cars and purchasing processes with various companies & Rivian has been a up in the air type experience with the whole delivery process. just sit and hope for the best is what I’m seeing so far.

a small “loop hole” for info is texting the service center number that sent you your scheduled delivery text. They have info as well. I’m not a fan of my “guide” so far.

I had a deposit for a new build that I cancelled when a ready to lease/buy option came up with all of the options I wanted, so I put down a deposit on that and cancelled my build to order deposit. There were no updates at all on expected delivery time of my deposit for a build to order, even after weeks, so the ready to order had a much more certain timeline of a week or two instead of weeks to months. I received confirmation within a day of the cancelled build deposit, and of the ready to take delivery order, and about a week later, with no communications in between, the local service center called me to schedule delivery as vehicle was in shop and being prepped for delivery. So, like other's experiences, Rivian very much lacks delivery process updates and caught me by surprise with the vehicle ready for delivery within a day of notice.

The purchase process was smooth except that they wanted me to sign the lease with a start date one day before delivery, which I was not ok with taking liability (financial and of the vehicle I have not yet seen) before delivery date. After several emails, and calls with several Rivian folks, and after them saying they can't adjust the lease start to match the delivery date--which is absurd--they finally resolved my request and I took delivery. But this added much time and stress to what should have been a simple transaction and exciting moment at delivery, as well as I should not have even had to request that the lease start date match the delivery date.

Overall, the vehicle was in new condition with about 50 miles, but alignment and headlight aiming was out upon first drive, and these items should had been resolved before being delivered to me, so it seems Rivian still lacks in delivery process, customer communications, and vehicle inspection before delivery. Hopefully your transaction goes more smoothly.

I received a call from local service center and took delivery about two days later, although I could had taken delivery the next day except for the day to resolve the lease start date to match the delivery date (per my other comment on this thread).
