Has anyone noticed the Rivian Trip Visualizer on the Rivian website?

If so, have you noticed that there aren't options for the R1S Gen 1 Quad motor, Large pack?

Just wondering.

Agreed. I worry about our Gen1 software updates and still unfulfilled feature promises...Are they still working on them? Or will they abandon to focus on the forked Gen2?

This is targeted at educating potential customers - “see how easy it is to do your planned roadtrips?” Rivian wants to sell them Gen2 vehicles, not have them buy used vehicles.

Existing owners can use the trip planner in the smartphone app or interact directly with the navigation system on the vehicle.

We get that, I hear ya', and it's understandable, but Rivian should still have a website resource similar to Tesla Trip Planner (yup, said that) where one can plan an actual trip on a computer, on a big screen, with multiple windows open because they are planning other aspects of their trip (possibly with other family members), as opposed to having to plan it on a phone screen.

ABRP is not the solution in my opinion. If they were able to incorporate that into a Rivian skinned frontend, with simpler options, that would be ideal. Again, in my opinion the ABRP is complicated on the surface for people that aren't used to getting into the details. It needs to just be simple.

It's actually pretty nice, kind of optimistic compared to ABRP though :)

Because its a sales tool. Not a functional tool for existing users. You have one of those in you truck and on your phone.

There's way too many factors involved to get useful results out of a simple EV trip planner, which is why ABRP is complicated.

Yup, understood, but Tesla does it just fine. Just saying. It doesn't need to be that complicated on the frontend. Again though, I realize this is comparing apples and oranges.

I have a family member that is 70 years old and drives an R1S, those are the people I think about.

I have two Tesla's, no shade to Rivian, I wouldn't want any other vehicle than the R1S right now, just saying Tesla does it better so we know it can be done.

I think most are missing the point of the trip planner via their website, it's not meant for current owners, it's meant for prospective buyers so they can see what trips in a Rivian will look like, based on the current offering. They really should include Gen 1 as long as they are offering them for sale in the shop, but they won't be available for much longer unless you go pre owned.

I did not know this exists. Thank you for bringing it up.
Yeah, interesting that R1S Quad is not listed. Hope it is an oversight only.
Just for kicks, I entered my last long trip. Says only one stop to charge for 15 min.
Don't think so. I actually stopped three times, at least that long at each. But this is something that may depend on our own personal choices and planning.

The built-in navigation seems good enough for me.

It's a trip "visualizer", not a trip "planner".

Come on Rivian! There are more Gen 1's out there than Gen 2's at this point.
It’s a sales tool to convince people to buy their vehicles - which means Gen 2 right now.

If you have a Gen 1, you can just use the in-vehicle or phone app trip planner.
