SC service is terrible for a POS vehicle! I am taking mine in for the very last use so they can “fix” it so I can trade it in for an ICE vehicle. MB and Audi that I own have never had these issues!

I had mine replaced via mobile service several months ago and it is now coming off again. I put in for service via the mobile app a week ago and still haven't heard from rivian.
FWIW, the window trim doesn't seem to get worse after first noticed. When ours first detached on the R1S, it remained stable for the two months we took to get to the Service Center.

That delay wasn't the Service Center's fault BTW. It was a busy spring for us, and we weren't worried about the trim as long as we knew it would be repaired someday.

If I had a child who picked at everything, I would have pushed myself to get it in....

Best wishes!

RJ, take $10M of the VW $1B and train and place a single tech and tools in key VW service departments in areas that you already know have higher service volumes. ...... or are you afraid that those dropping Rivians off will end up sign and drive a VW on way out?

As many have noted, this seems to be very location dependent. Vast majority of Rivians are sold in affluent coastal areas such as Southern California, Bay Area, New York and other metro areas. There are nearly a dozen in my neighborhood in North County San Diego, and I see them everywhere, probably more frequently than other well known makes. They need to add more service centers ASAP, or subcontract with other reputable repair shops. If I were an automotive repair shop I would get certified and start working on EVs. If this continues people will look elsewhere. This demographic can afford pretty much any premium vehicle out there, and other more established manufacturers are catching up.

My last appointment at El Segundo was a 5 month wait, then 3 weeks until they looked at the vehicle and started the 2 hour repair. They paid almost $2500 for a rental car during this time. So those complaining about only a 3 month wait don't know how good they have it.

Just hit 7k miles and thought I'd get a "head start" on scheduling my 7.5k mile service. ZERO appointments available at Bellevue, WA. I don't even see the outlandish options like December etc. Just no availability period. Agree that it is a function of more and more Rivians on the road in this area, plus I do wonder how much of an impact removing the Guides and shifting that burden to the service centers has had.

Hopefully they call back and schedule a mobile visit instead, which they have been good about doing in the past.

It’s two months out for me to get my A/C worked on for a third time. By the time the appointment rolls around, summer will be over. Plus every appointment offering is at 8 am only…I am starting to second guess my purchase with barely 5k miles.

Submitted a service request on 6/25 and there was no word for two weeks. When I called back on 7/8, I was told there were notes stating August was the first available but no specific date. This was from the service department but the guides never relayed this information to me. Terrible service.

I'm in NorCal and always check on both SF and SJ's service centers; while they both arevery crowded and only offer appointments several months ahead - when something urgent came up and I needed an appointment asap (a tiny chip in the windshield started expanding), they got me a same-week appointment. So I guess they do try to prioritize major/urgent matters from less acute ones.

Also, considering EVs don't need much servicing, I hope/guess that with the Gen2 improvements, there won't be much need for the service centers they already have, let alone expanding current ones.

This. Southern California service wait times are really really long right now. When I hear about someone getting their vehicle seen and taken care of within a week of dropping it off, I wonder if its a true story.

Left my truck at SC on Thursday 6/27, they FIRST looked at it on Wednesday 7/3 but said they'd actually start the next day and would be closed Friday. No loaners, I have a shitbox rental they are paying for. "Maybe today."

I would have been perfectly happy to get my drop-off rescheduled and told them so. But there's no mechanism for that. I'd much rather just be on call for "they will work on it tomorrow."

How can Rivian executive team think it is ok for customers to have to drop off vehicles only to have them then sit at a service center for weeks in some cases, before they are even pulled into shop to evaluate?

There's no logic in the corporate world, especially with these executive donkeys. I've had the unfortunate non pleasure to have to work with numerous big name corporations and 99.9% of those that make up the corporate structure are just a bunch of rear kissing donkeys and that's not exaggerating one bit.

Again, there's no logic. These corporate goons just care about a pay check with doing the bare minimum work to make it look like work. Even those with the greatest intentions get warped into the cult reality that exist in the corporate structure. It's a hot mess and really pathetic.

This is why from the outside looking in we all wonder, what the heck is wrong with these people, things just don't make sense, how?

Rivian isn't immune from this mess.

I am worried that we haven't heard enough about their expansion plans in front of R2. Tesla went through similar struggles in the early years, but significantly ramped up service centers in advance of the 3, and then continued to get it to a decent coverage in advance of Y. I was able to get my wife's Y's tire patched in a day earlier this year, whereas Rivian told me to go to a third party for a recent tire patching job due to a lack of mobile service availability. Luckily I had purchased the pucks a few months back since there were no certified shops near me.

There's only a handful of Rivian's near me in South Jersey right now. I'm afraid what will happen in 26' if we don't see multiple centers open up in our area given the amount of 3's and Y's on the road.

You hit the nail on the head. Rivian has a dream like opportunity to use some of the funds that they would never have had otherwise to do some major good with it.

If they don't address the foundation right now to support their growth, that bridge will eventually collapse and we're already seeing major fractures in their structure and foundation. Not a good sign.

If Rivian were to use VW service departments, this would be a lot of free advertisement to bring in foot traffic for sure, but as of right now VW has crap options for EVs, which could be temporary, but eventually if VW does release a decent EV this could be pose an issue and awaken the past dormant foot traffic of Rivian owners.

Imagine a solid beefed up VW Atlas SUV EV that does everything better than Rivian, hypothetically with a UI on par with Rivian since...
