Silverado EV

R1T is back at the SC, so Enterprise put me in a Silverado EV. WOW. Made me realize how nice the T is. Thoughts so far;

• Ride is like a boat, all over the place, BUT, the suspension is SO quiet.
• Spec is LT, which I get is low, but this is an 79K truck. Its shocking; no heated seats, manual seat adjustment (no rise at all), no navigation, no auto wipers, the list goes on . . .
• Really awful drone noise (apparently a safety feature) you cant turn off
• Rattles from all over the place
• Aquaplanes and slides without any effort at all

I dont know who is buying these and I dont know why you would when you have a T or Lightning as an option.

We are lucky, it sometimes takes a journey in someones shoes to realize just how lucky!

I got one as a loaner last time mine was at the SC as well.

Biggest complaint was the ergonomics. It seems designed for people with extremely long torsos and short legs. I had trouble seeing over the hood and while I'm not super tall, at 5'10" I can at least usually see what I'm about to run over.

Maybe this improves with adjustable seats in the higher trims? Someone here has one (@Dark-Fx ?) so perhaps there are answers close by.

Mine didn't rattle at all and seemed solid all around, but I'm sure there's variability in builds.

The range is extraordinary. If I needed a tow rig, this would be high on my list.

Feature wise the RST is the closest competitor to the T and that is a $94,000 truck

We have the Sierra. More comfortable drive than the Rivians, but it always drives like a truck too.

Heated seat bottom and back, back can be turned on alone.

Fairly certain I can turn off the fake engine noise in the Sierra, but "off" might still not mean off.

The mid-gate is pretty nice to have, but I have car seats in the rear seat and it's a pain in the ass to use because of it.

GM's trucks really do a great job targeting their existing ICE market, if you want a truck that's a truck.

With the exception of aquaplaning (a function of tires not truck) the rest are just the difference between what was built to be a truck and what was built to be a lifestyle vehicle. The Silverado EV is a better truck while the Rivian is a better everyday driver and jack of most trades.

I test drove the Sierra ev… was considering purchasing it for the extra room.. but it just felt inferior drive and tech wise. The extra room was cool, but it just felt like taking a step back… that is the Denali version too. Can’t imagine how bad the silverado Feels.

Are you sure you weren't in the WT (work truck) version? I saw the specs of the LT version that I didn't think was out yet and it was nicely equipped.

I'm thinking he's in a WT. Those are slow and extremely light on creature comforts. It should have been an LT from day 1, the WT was a gigantic blunder.

I had one as a loaner as well. It was very comfortable and a lot softer than the Rivian, no steering feel but still decently good dynamics for its size. The one I had did rattle a bit and I hate rattles. Interior was outrageously cheap…this was in the low end model, but still a $79k truck.

This sounds like the last time I looked at a Silverado in general. I was floored with how mindnubingly crappy the interior was. Literally felt like something that I would have expected from an early 90's GM vehicle, not the High Country or whatever the hell it was.

Glad I’m not alone in that thought. It felt incredibly cheap. The interior plastic panels don’t align well and you can see they are giant one piece moulds.

Reminds me yet again how far ICE vehicle brands have to go.

I am in the same boat ?. The Silverado isn't bad ...yes the parts are cheaper for sure. Especially on the WT which is what I have. Its a totally different experience though from a Rivian. The WT is about 80k and the RST tops out around 96K. Its clear all the money is tied up in the battery and drivetrain.

I have a loaner Silverado WT as a loaner now too. Keeping in mind it's a work truck I compare it to the Ford F150XL my Company has. It's nice compared to that. I want to compare it to an RST to see how much more refined it is over the work truck. My R1T is at SC for 3 to 4 weeks have power tonneau replaced and diagnosing some front suspension issues. I'll be happy to have it back.

My tonneau cover replacement took a day and a half. Sparks NV SC. Must be mostly due to suspension issues.
