You're probably right about it not being a cure-all, but it could still help in the non-salty months. I find backing into parking spots (which I do almost 100% of the time) is a lot more challenging in the rain or after a rain.

I apply RainX to my camera every few months and it works wonders. Granted, I am not in a snow area so I don't deal too much with that sort of grime, but it works well for rain and road dust.

Hey folks-

This year winter has been robust up here in Maine, and so my rear camera is constantly covered in road grime. Anyone have a nifty solution for shielding it, 3d printed or otherwise?

thanks!
It depends on what I'm trying to do, but since I haven't found a way to keep the rear camera clear, I often switch to the bed camera, which is simple and quick. Unfortunately, I also commonly get out of the truck and wipe the rear camera lens.

Edited for explanation: I live in Vermont in a town with 2 paved roads. The entire truck is almost always filthy with dust, dirt, and slush. Unless I plan to heat the garage and put in floor drains, which I'm not, I'm just living with it. And after 52,000 miles, I am still absolutely in love with this truck. My wife would love it too if I put some sort of side step on. In my prior experience with Jeeps and Rams, I've never put a third-party side rail on that didn't rust horribly.

Closest thing I've seen is this for R1S: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/i-designed-a-rain-cover-for-the-reverse-camera.53127/. Not sure if it fits the T? and they never shared the file with anyone. Maybe someone else could tackle it? @RWerksman @kozak79 @twraps

Short of installing a sprayer and running a washer fluid line all the way back, only other thing I can think of is to treat the lens cover with ceramic or graphene-based hydrophobic product—to lower chances of water and muck sticking to it.

I have no idea if this truly works, but some day I'll have to give it a shot.
