Recently took delivery, not going to be towing for a while until the snow melts. When I insert our 2" stinger into the hitch on the R1T, there is the usual little bit of play in it, so it can rattle back and forth / up and down a bit. On our subaru, I made and installed a square-U shaped clamp to prevent that motion. Unfortunately, I can't do that with the R1 hitch because of the weld material at the top of the end of the receiver. Has anyone found something that works in this case?

BTW, one of the retaining "screws" was missing already when I went to remove the cover. Common problem?

No, missing a cover screw is not common.

They are a great upgrade since they can be installed and removed without tools, I am very happy with mine.
FYI - The originals don't require anything that most people would consider to be "tools". Any coin in your pocket short of a 50 cent piece or a silver dollar will do, but a quarter works best (followed by a nickel)

I dealt with this problem on my R1T by grabbing a top-notch anti-rattle hitch clamp. Totally fixed the annoying wobbling issue. Oh, and about the missing retaining screw thing, yeah, it's a common problem. I swapped it out for a tougher, corrosion-resistant stainless steel screw, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. No issues at all.
