Right. And we won't get it, either. This feature would really F' up the environment, which isn't a good look for an environmentally conscious company like Rivian.
I plan to only use it while outside the environment.

I think that was a convenience exucse to say why it's not going to be included, but in reality, people will use it on the road and probably cause issues with drivetrain and they decided it's a headache not worth dealing with.

Stress on the drivetrain is the real reason...you think service is backed up now? I can only imagine.

The answer I got from the head of engineering was risk aversion. The vehicle has a tendancy to drift a bit, vs just spinning in circles. Throw that in with 800 hp and you have a recipe for accidents.
If only there was a way to electronically control/limit the throttle response when such a mode is activated...hmm :)

I personally don't miss it. Like "crab walk," when am I going to use it? Probably whenever I go to never.

kinda tired of seeing other vehicles flaunting the tank turn when Rivian was the first to showcase it. Just release it already, screw the "we dont want to harm the environment" stance. Rivian needs the marketing to increase visibility and sales.

I am bummed but I promise you the douche bags ripping up the roads and leaving skid marks in parking lots will maintain the g wagon reputation. Rivian only had something to lose here, they made the right call.

The tire wear may be a personal choice, but I do not see an advantage in the tank spin, so even if my R1T had it I would not use it. Just like I have never used launch mode, 0 to 60 thing. I have used snow/off road modes to get home in a storm, but mt wife has a Porsche 718 and if I want to drive in a sporty way, I would drive her car. I will confess I'm 69, so in 1969 I was wild but have slowed down.

Would be useful in a tight parking lot/structure to lower turn radius...
