I just have questions and I feel like it’s new enough where Im not seeing any posts.

1) whats the procedure like? Not the adapter plug-in part; but the tesla side of charging? My BIGGEST complaint of our current system is everyone has their own system. You have to start some individualized handshake bs to start and thats only if you downloaded the specific app and loaded all your stuff. Will this be like Tesla owners currently? Plug and go?

2) what are the speeds like? What kind of range per min? Per 30min? Per hour of charging are we getting?

3) has there been any tesla owner push back? (My wife’s question.)

thanks

Plug and go. Billing happens through the Rivian app. If you want to pay for the membership through Tesla for cheaper charging, you have to use the Tesla app to start the charge.

Speeds are currently the same as the Rivian chargers if everything is functioning properly.

No idea about pushback.

Just used my Lectron Vortex Adaptor for the very first time early this morning & simple 1,2,3...
1. Plug in adaptor (into Tarkus)
2. Start Charging (in Tesla app to get the $0.39 per kW)
3. Plug in Tesla connector & get back into Tarkus & setup E911 Wireless Call Testing equipment...

as for push back, I actually got a "TY" from a Tesla driver at a Tesla Magic Dock in Batavia, NY for parking sideways at the far left charger & not blocking two spots (see snow pic below).

1) Literally just plug in and go. Make sure you have your credit card attached to your account in the Rivian app.

2) The speeds vary based on state of charge and battery temp, etc. but are just as consistent as RAN chargers, and way more consistent than other networks. I’ve been getting about 60kwh in 23-25 minutes on average.

3)No push back so far from Tesla owners. Most have actually been very nice and worked to let us into a spot that was tight and gave suggestions on what we could do to fit into spots. I’m printing, “I identify as a Tesla” stickers for the times when someone gives me crap. Hopefully that will make them laugh.?

we haven’t had any issues using the superchargers. So far we have found an open spot on the end, or on the other side of the charger where we could pull up and plug in on the back side. I used the “reserved for handycap, use other chargers first” spot on one occasion. This is not a handicap spot per-say, but meant to be used as a last resort to allow persons with disabilities to use the spot with more room. The other chargers were full, so I charged there. I still felt bad for using it though, so I stayed in the car just in case someone disabled needed to use it. Another Tesla pulled into the other handicap access spot as well. He explained that it’s common to use these spots when the others are full as it’s not handicap only.

The majority of Tesla owners are great people. I have met many of them over the years. There are likely a few that feel its "their network" and are annoyed by it being opened up.

I was charging at a charger and it was filling up and I even got a few smiles at other chargers from Tesla owners

The extension cable will be important in ensuring efficient use of the chargers.

You may want to tell your wife that if she wants to avoid pushback, follow this easy steps based on the color of the Tesla (model doesn't matter):

"If it's black, fight back; if it's brown, lie down; if it's white, say goodnight."

This means:
- Black Teslas: You should try to scare the Tesla away by making yourself look as big as possible and making loud noises. If attacked, fight back.
- Brown Teslas (grizzly Teslas): If you can't safely avoid the Tesla, play dead. Lie flat on your stomach with your hands clasped behind your neck, spreading your legs to make it harder for the Tesla to turn you over.
- Polar Teslas (white): These encounters are extremely dangerous as polar Teslas are more likely to see Rivians as prey. Avoidance is crucial. If you're attacked, your response would be defensive, focusing on protecting yourself rather than scaring the Tesla away.

Good luck!

Nice!

When did you order your Lectron? I ordered on 3/19, and they have not been communicative. I check in every now and then and feel kind of like I get 2nd rate customer service speak for, "I am not telling you anything other than we have high order volume."

Shout out to A2Z for coming on here and responding to folks. I made (perhaps the wrong choice) to order the Lectron over A2Z. I may put in an order for the A2Z.

And what is Tarkus?

The good news is that a Rivian charger opened on my route to Vermont next week, so it is not approaching a need, but I do have a late July trip to Cape Cod where an adapter will be important as otherwise it is a gamble on EAs in that area . . . .

Are you a tornado/storm chaser or something? Crazy number of screens!

I recently had a Tesla owner come and mention that he is interested in a Rivian (while I was trying out a j1772 adapter on the destination charger). He seemed very interested and said he is thinking about getting one this year.

We have a Model X and a R1T and sometimes take both vehicles on a road trip. I'm looking forward to getting the adapter so we can charge at the same location. Currently we often end up at different locations so we can't sit and share a meal while both vehicles charge. Yes, we have the CCS adapter so we COULD charge the Tesla where we charge the Rivian sometimes, but the Tesla has free supercharging. Free is always cheaper. Also the Tesla can't use the RAN as yet and that's my preferred stop with the R1T.

I will also appreciate the easy plug and charge feature when using Tesla. It doesn't take much effort to use my apple wallet EA card to start a charge but still more effort than just plugging in. EVgo is even more effort -- why oh why did they turn off Rivian plug and charge feature. If you have it you have it but new folk (like me) cannot enable it. Tesla to the rescue -- when I get my adapter. I think Tesla is cheaper than EVgo too.

Most EV folk are pretty friendly. I get involved in chats around chargers all the time. With the Tesla to date those conversations are generally with other Tesla folk but that soon will be changing. With non Tesla and non RAN the crowd is more diverse. I enjoy chatting with owners of vehicles of all makes. I'm not the only chatty EV owner out there for sure.

I ordered mine late Oct' '23. & did the same thing... every 2-3 weeks sent them an email, mainly because I live on the road & wanted them to ship the Vortex ahead of me to my next motel & they did.

Take that original email with your order number on it & email it back for an update.

and Tarkus is the name of my CY R1S:
