Looks like there was some damage to the front crash structure. It won't be cheap. Parts in the front are easy to replace compared to the side/rear panel.

What hit you? Show us the other vehicle.
White minivan tried to dodge someone ahead of him, rapidly changed lanes into me at high speed. Bounced off my quarter panel and back into his own lane where he rear ended the other cars. Attaching pictures below.

Unfortunately I have first hand experience with damaged R1, I would be surprised if this wasn't totaled. My R1 had minor damage to the rear qtr panel and lift gate and the repair was over $ 60,000 and the diminished value was over $ 20,000.00. If you didn't cause the accident you should be compensated for diminished value so that you don't lose out. Glad you're ok. I have a bigger question, if it's totaled would you buy another Rivian?
if it’s totaled I will absolutely get another Rivian. I truly love both the car and the brand!

Glad everyone is okay...That was a mess and at least it was a glancing blow. If insurance does total it, here's my "Hopefully my R1S is never in an accident, but if it is and it's totaled" checklist:

  • Frunk Net
  • Instacrates
  • Cooler
  • Tempo Temperature Logger
  • Charging Adapters
  • Umbrellas
Inside Front
  • EZ Pass
  • Flashlight
  • Camp Speaker
  • Floor Console Divider
  • Floor Mats
  • Magsafe Phone Charger
  • DriveCam SSD
  • Contents of Center Bin
  • Glasses in Driver Under Seat Bin
  • Umbrella in Passenger Under Seat Bin
Inside 2nd Row
  • Charging Cables in Seatback Pockets
  • Blanket Between Seats
  • Floor Mat
  • Head Rests?
Inside 3rd Row
  • Floor Mat
  • Charging Cables in Armrest Bins
Rear
  • Protective Rear Mat
  • Tie Downs
  • Rear Storage Lid
  • Portable Charger
  • Rear Storage Divider
  • First Aid Kit
  • Compressor Hose
  • All Tools, Pucks, Jack, Gloves, Extension Cords

And, since the OP has an R1T, don't forget the GearGuard cable....

Thanks, Kevin!

What’s your best guess on the damage?

A lot of salvageable parts there, but if they don't total it and it has frame damage, you're likely going to have a hard time selling or trading it in. The CarFax will kill it a lot of places (based on my experience with other vehicles).

So sorry to see that.

@Thomas328, Sorry this happened to you. From your description and the photos it seems as though the DS wheel would have taken a significant impact causing unknown damage to the front drive unit. I'd be very surprised if not Totaled which is probably a good thing. The good news is I'm yet to hear of an accident involving a Rivian which resulted in any kind of injuries to the occupants which is amazing.

Should have made this a poll. I vote for "totaled"; your airbags not going off might be your only saving grace if it's not. Good luck, glad you're okay. Let us know what they say.

Edit: looks exactly like mine. Mine ever gets totaled, I'm ripping out the Forest Edge interior to put in my next one (since they don't make that anymore). Add that to the checklist above. 😆
