This just happened to me while driving in the rain as well. Does anybody from Rivian monitor these forums? They should be super embarrassed about crap like this and be proactive about correcting these issues before they happen. At the very least, they should offer a mobile service option to repair these types of issues when they do happen. Outrageous. Cheap plastic crap. They make it seem like an off road vehicle but the entire fender areas are constructed from cheap plastic panels that just fall off with the slightest disturbance. Does anyone know if these clips will work in place of the turquoise clips, which no longer function?

The only alternative is dropping my vehicle off at a service center which probably means I won’t see my vehicle for a couple of weeks.

And you should be embarrassed about your overreaction. It's minor and not worth getting emotional over.

These flare are the outter-most extremes of the exterior. They are meant to have give and not transfer enough force to damage the sheet metal they are attached to. And the plastic push pins provide that level of flex and compliance. Rivian isn't the only one who attach flares and external trims this way. Other brands do it too. It's a decades-old industry practice. The pins can sometimes get damaged during installation at the factory, making them less secure. While this happened to you, it doesn't happen to everyone. Many have full sent their R1s into streams and had no issues.

Replace damaged push pins with like sized ones—you can find them on Amazon or local auto parts store—and press trim back into place. Take one with you to local auto parts store so you can eyeball the size. Or, you can buy kits on Amazon that contain an assortment of sizes.

Or, you can just drop by your local Rivian SC. No appointment necessary. They'll push it back in for you or give you new fasteners. And if the damage is severe enough, they'll set you up with appointment or order a new flare.
