I recently added the Rivian app to my wife’s iPhone and now every time we get in the truck, the seat and steering wheel start adjusting to her profile. Doesn’t even matter if I am the one to unlock the truck — the truck detects her phone and assumes that she’s driving.

I drive 99% of the time, so this is driving me crazy. I don’t want to delete her profile but I’m getting close to nuking it.

Is there anyway to get the truck to prioritize my profile when we’re both getting on the vehicle?

No matter which phone you want it to pick, it's going to always pick the other one.

So the trick is to genuinely want it to pick your wife's phone, then it will pick yours.

Mine picks my wife's phone even when she's not in the car. I think it remembers seeing her nearby when she got in her car to head out to work a few minutes before me.

Technically I think you need to yell “shotgun” before she does to get priority.

I don't know the answer to this question but I sure wish I did every time I have to scrunch into the seat set for my wife who's 5" shorter than I am.

On my wife's iPhone we set the Rivian app to only use location when the Rivian app is open. Her phone will only open the Rivian when she opens the app. When we walk up to the Rivian my phone always opens it and sets my profile as the primary. So far it works really well. She just has to open the app when she is going to drive the Rivian. We did this for our son as well. So far it works.

Sounds promising. Will give this a try. Thanks.

Rivian needs to add a feature similar to Tesla where you can set a "Priority device". Then if both devices are preset it will always choose the priority device.

You can also sign yourself in to the rivian app on your wife's phone. This is what we did as I am the primary driver and got very frustrated with what you describe. Now my wife only has to click on her profile once she gets in to switch it.

Other than killing/limiting the app there's no real way for the truck to know which PaaK is the one in the drivers seat.

Yes, there is. There are four Bluetooth sensors for proximity lock/unlock. The key that approaches from the driver's side should be made primary. And I think this is how it is supposed to work. My wife and I both have PaaK enabled and active in the system and have NEVER (over 16 months) had her key take priority over mine. That said, I'm not as chivalrous as some here and I don't open her door for her. That scenario definitely complicates the logic.

Hmm, not sure if they use the distances correctly but that also assumes you can approach the truck from different locations. In my garage you have to both approach from drivers side. So perhaps it depends on who gets there first, or who is there when the doors unlock, or who is closest to the steering wheel when someone is in the drivers seat. None of it is documented. Its a crapshoot for now.
