I would be curious if anyone can check to see if PAAK still works, I do not think it needs to be logged into the app to work, should just be using the phone. May need the app launched if location service is set to only when app is running.

Unfortunately I am not around my R1S to test but would like to know the answer.

I'd hope you'd need to be logged in. There needs to be some "handshake" that verifies the user as known by Rivian is the one attempting to operate the vehicle.

My experience with Tesla's was that this did happen, on rare occasion, but when it happened it was fairly short. Maybe an hour max. I was never locked a car though, just unable to use the app / remote functions.
Same..I only recall it happening once in the 3 years we've had our Tesla.

If you set the iPhone to location services always for the app you do not need the app open, anyone that has your phone can walk up and drive the car away.

That is of course assuming the service is working.

You should need to be logged in to retrieve the credentials, but it's perfectly reasonable for those credentials to have some offline lifetime, before the truck & server automatically rotate or manually revoke the credentials.

Say, 36 hours with 12-hour rotation would be good.

Looks like progress is being made… now get a login error instead of the page simply refreshing.

My suspicion is that it’s an AWS issue (Amazon Web Server) … a product my company uses is also currently experiencing issues, and it runs on AWS servers. Amazon owns sooo much of the web and connected device backbones.
So, my business is in home automation/networking/custom integration. We are now seeing a fallout of multiple of our 'remote access' platforms right now. I strongly think this issue is not limited to Rivian, but is a broader issue.

I was logged in this morning when it logged me out. I figured it was from me recently updating my phone software. After trying a few times, I verified I had the current app and sent the app developers an email straight from the Google Play store contact info with my current phone information. They actually replied. Of course then I came here and saw how widespread it is. Doh...

My truck wouldn't unlock but it readied right away after getting in with the wristband. I don't think it usually works that way. Someone else mentioned a short grace period to be able to start, but that hasn't been my experience at all.
I use my wristband for access everyday. This is absolutely how it is supposed to behave. FWIW, it has always behaved this way for me.

I went to demo my new Rivian for the 3rd time today and cannot enter the car. i can't log into th eapp and 2 cards and fob are INSIDE THE TRUCK. I do have a wristband at home though, so maybe wifey can bring it..

Embarassing.
Note to self.... keep a card on you at all times.

Lucked out and my wife had the key card I gave her and never used in her purse. Thinking of keep a card in a hitch safe going forward. Will never trust phone as a key only again
