I put a key card in my wallet on day one. My Tesla does not use PAAK but several friends use it with Tesla and it has gone south on them many times. None of them leave the house without a key card.

I was about to file my seventh service ticket in two days when the app logged me out. I think they're on to me. Sorry everyone for the inconvenience.

How long do you think this issue will persist?
We'll continue to update you until the issue is resolved.

Rivian Service Team
No ETA is pretty concerning.

Can't have warranty issues if you can't report warranty issues.

TIL the PAAK requires internet access to open your truck.

Now I know why it's(almost) always so damn slow.

WTF.

This is one more reason why I've been sending my guide requests to PLEASE let us have more than 2 phone keys. We are a family of 4 drivers......I much prefer the phone key so and I do not dare go without a key card....that means we effectively have 2 keys plus a FOB so 3 total instead of the 5 they say we have. This inevitably leads to me having to loan out my key card....and forgetting to get it back and end up getting locked out like this.

Not sure why my entire family can have a phone key for our Tesla but we can only have 2 for our Rivian.

Maybe this whole thing is my fault. I asked service why I can't have the same wristband key programmed onto two different vehicles. Someone must have tried it out and crashed the whole system.

Maybe I missed it, but where are the usual posters that say this type of stuff happens with Tesla all the time. Or that it took Tesla like a decade to get these things ironed out? I haven't ever owned and likely never will own a Tesla, so curious?
My experience with Tesla's was that this did happen, on rare occasion, but when it happened it was fairly short. Maybe an hour max. I was never locked out of a car though, just unable to use the app / remote functions.

Not all the time, but have dealt with it with our Tesla too. That’s why I carry the keycards

Who is going to be the brave soul to open their Rivian app first?

I don't recall this happening in my Tesla experience which is Aug 2020 to now.

Dangerous.

Don't try to open your app if you haven’t already.

I walked out of the R1S with pet mode on (luckily!), it locked behind me with dog inside. From inside the bank I opened the app to make sure the temp was 72, but the app was frozen. Restarted app, couldn't login in. Car wouldnt open when I waled up to it, or with app at login screen.

My wife came over with her phone, but app not “open” and the car unlocked. She also had a card key, so I am good. But… imagine if I hadn't hit pet mode, or even the battery was low, or a bunch of other scenarios involving kids.

Lesson learned, always have a card/key/band.

The app needs to cache phone key credentials for when the server is down, start using the CCC phone-as-key standard, or both. NFC would be great too, as it is rumored the iPhone 15 will continue to service NFC comms 6+ hrs after the battery has gone too flat to turn the phone on.

I have a strong suspicion the app will cache credentials after this outage.
