I didn't actually get that info. I asked the Tech about it as he was going over the repair and giving my keys back to me. Maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about, but he knew about the delay in being able to do it and said they had replaced one Rivian windshield at that point. ?Cost?
I’m on the same timeline as you. Bought in March 2023 had two replacements before the end of Summer 2023. Nothing since then. Did your insurance jump up also? My agent shopped around and couldn’t find anything better. She said all electric vehicles are getting bumped up, but I’m wondering if the windshields are the reason.R1T purchased March 2023 and now on my third windshield (2nd replacement). My 2nd replacement was within 4 weeks of my 1st replacement.
State Farm, $0 windshield policy. Had to take it into Rivian and pay them direct, and then get reimbursed by State Farm. Altogether an easy process.
The more upright windshield as in many trucks, and of course Colorado I70 has given my R1T windshield hell ... I personally believe it's due to a thinner, or less structurally secure OEM windshield by Rivian, but that's an opinion and not fact.
State Farm wanted me to use Safelight which I declined as when I inquired about it they said they could do the replacement, but then Rivian would have to do the calibration. I didn't bother and just had the Rivian Service Center in Colorado Springs do it both times. It's a 4 hour job as far as I can tell as it seems to be quite involved from what videos I've seen online.

I think the first replacement came in at just under $1,800, the second was just under $1,700. The labor was the variable component if I recall.Cost?
I literally got a crack in my windshield driving my R1T home after picking it up in Denver. Luckily, I drove directly to Safelite and had it filled. Within the next 6 months I got two more small cracks from rocks that were so small they were barely audible. Luckily, both were not on on the driver's side and easily repaired. After looking at discussions on the Rivian Forum regarding how difficult and expensive it is to get the glass replaced, I decided to pay the $500 to get an ExoShield put on top of the glass. Best decision, as I have heard similar pings on my windshield and nary even a mark. I have to admit that it is worth $500 for the peace of mind...as I had started worrying constantly about my windshield. So had an interstate incident. Trailer truck kindly sprayed me with gravel. Have a severe impact fracture that will require front windshield replacement. Thanks.![]()
thanks for the suggestion. Still trying to get a reasonable repair completed. See below threadI literally got a crack in my windshield driving my R1T home after picking it up in Denver. I hope the aftermarket windshield has a better quality than OEM, keep us posted pleaseOk it took 3 trips to safelight - Walked away with a successful aftermarket install of windshield. Still have to have the calibration looked into, but at this time no issues noted with camera or wiper sensor.
Probably from a time perspective OEM install at Rivian the best approach. Thanks for all the responses.
