For you and others, did they say whether it was comprehensive warranty or drivetrain warranty? I'm over 60k miles now, and from my pretty basic Florida public school reading comprehension skills, I read it as a drivetrain issue.

See attached, and DM me if you need any specific!
It 100% should be covered by drivetrain warranty. The clutch disconnect on the rear motors of the quad gen 1 are also part of that drivetrain umbrella.

Half shafts outward though, are not.

For argument sake, what if the halfshaft failed as a result of heavy torque and damaged the disconnect and drive unit? Since the original point of failure isn't drivetrain, is the whole repair covered?

Or, if the drive unit failure damaged the halfshaft, would halfshaft be covered?

My take on that would be they would take care of the everything under the drivetrain warranty, inclusive of the disconnects. If the disconnect itself caused damage to the half shaft, I would argue, and you may not even to, that the half shaft should be replaced if damaged as a result.

If the half shaft caused the issue and wasn't fully seated? you might be able to have that covered as I assume Rivian installed it, and not you. It is a bit of a grey area, something most warranties don't go into full detail. Given my experiences, they'll likely consider it a "good will in the interest of customer satisfaction" and eat the cost of the half shaft.

Okay here's a question I just realized walking out to my truck...

I have Eletruck4x4 frame sliders with steps installed. If they need to remove the subframe to get to the drive unit, those will have to come off, right?

I'm dreading what I assume will become an afternoon chore, I just installed them! But I'm glad I caught it now and not at the service center.

You could ask them, but worst case, they'll remove them and just charge you a couple hundred for the labor to do that... (still annoying, but they shouldn't cancel your appointment over it...)

Smart, I will.

I think I answered my own question, see attached. I'm going with... No need to remove. Either way, they lift the entire vehicle.

Edit to replace guides with gifs, Rivian 🐀 caught me

This actually happened to me yesterday day when I left our lawyer’s office. I pulled out of a parking space and an old lady was driving down the middle of the parking lot road and refused to pull to one side to let me drive by. I quickly just pulled aside for her and she flipped me off just like this. Pretty funny.

IIRC those ones block the OEM lifting points, and a lot of service centers won't lift off accessory equipment for liability reasons.

I was going to say the same, the subframe mounts and their respective panels are further beyond the extents of the steps.

Unfortunately Age restricted, but worth the hassle to watch it.

From my experience Fife does not like rock sliders and in a scenario where they are not in the way of work they may still require it off. I don't know if it requires them off for motor work, but it's probably best to leave them at home vs. getting charged or them just taking it off and giving them to you. They don't exactly fit back into the vehicle easily.
