I am not an existing owner.

But as a prospecting owner of Gen2 R1S, I am still holding out on the money before Rivian can prove themselves in utilizing the new autonomy platform to provide equivalent capabilities from Tesla's autopilot and enhanced autopilot (even FSD as another future promise).

Sooo.. Cybertruck?
Doesn't have FSD. Unless it's late June already? Rivian could just announce those things are coming and the cybertruck people would jump.

No chance. I was a pre-Mar 1 order and my Quad R1T is awesome. No reason at all to even consider uprgading for a Gen 2. That said, I'll be watch R2 production since the timing will coincide with me no longer really "needing" a truck and my R1 being out of warranty. I'm even more interested in the R3X.....but Get 2 R1....can't see how that would be worthwhile at all

After having my R1S for over a year, I am not upgrading to Gen 2. Cool features and speed, but I LOVE what I have!

Haha this is true. the irony is so strong there. I can't believe they STILL haven't sent it out.

That being said I think it's pretty clear that whoever Tesla licensed FSD out to, it's not Rivian. They seem to be taking a completely different approach

Hell no. I'm gonna drive Yoda at least 15 years, as is my habit with all my trucks. Unless I total'em first.

Will wait for Gen 3/Native NACS!
Same depreciation is painful to jump to Gen 2 at this point. Update helped a bit with suspension so I'll deal for a few years and then take the leap to Gen whatever at the time.

Hate to say it but sounds more like a downgrade…

So no.

Absolutely not. That’s crazy. Sure it’s a few cool new features but it’s not revolutionary. And I wouldn’t want to trade my quad/large pack for anything with a smaller battery (and ideally for another quad). Gen 1 is still a great car and we’ve got years of software improvements to come.

Google Maps says it's only 234 miles between downtown SLC and Moab. Are you just not willing to charge to 80% to 90%?
I drive fast, and there’s a lot of elevation gain on that drive. I always leave with 100% charge. If I slowed down a bit I might be able to make it but, hell, there’s no fun in that.

You must only have the Standard Pack? Or are you driving triple-digit speeds? Because I would think the Standard Plus battery would easily make 234 miles, even at fast freeway speeds. Moab is only 60 feet of elevation gain compared to downtown SLC.

Nope, it's a Large pack.

The net elevation gain is minor, but there are mountains between SLC and Moab. Departing with a full charge and arriving with ~10% range requires a stop.
