I wish the speed limiter could be increased to 135 with some track tires would be nice. It sucks that the truck can do 11.6 quarter mile @110mph at best. I would guess it could do 10s if the cap could be raised. Gen 1 R1T Quad.

A: Not useful. For most drivers, there aren’t that many opportunities to go that fast. B: While you might be competent in car control, 7k+ lbs times >110 mph… what could go wrong? /s. C: Look at all of the tire threads and see what non-stock tires people are choosing. Again, what could go wrong? /s. D: Top speed is not where BEVs shine. It’s acceleration.

I dont see the need to raise it. 99% of the time, no one will need to go above 110. I also suspect they lowered it in the Gen1 Quad due to thermal issues. Which is why were seeing the higher limit in the Gen2 Tri.

I may never drive mine even at 90 mph; there are no roads anywhere near me even with that speed limit. 125 mph limit, 130 mph, whatever, a total don't-care.

If they had something like track mode that Tesla has, my old Tesla had a top speed of 135mph. This isn't for public roads but the weekend doing auto-x and quarter mile track. On the highway I'm lucky if I do 75mph.

Isn’t the ‘25 QuadMax advertised at 10.5 @ 130-ish. Plop down $125, FAandFO!

I have the Gen 1 quad and it's in the air when the new quad is coming out sometime in 2025.
Yep, I have a res on one. My ‘22 white with 22s will be for sale..under 5K miles. That might determine if I open the checkbook or not.

There is no autoX on earth where you need a raised top speed and for that matter, literally no one will be autocrossing a Rivian...at least until the R3 comes out. Now road course and drag strip would be nice, but you're never going to get this except in some geofenced mode. G2 tri/quad get a launch mode that allows up to about 130 mph at the drag strip and the quad was shown to do 10.5s. The other limitation is tires...most of the available aftermarket replacements top out at a T rating with 118 mph.

The quad goes like Hell, but stopping 7200 lbs is a whole ‘nuther story. Physics is physics! Haha

IMHO you don’t need that kind of speed in a truck or suv. I’ll take the corvette when I want to go fast, that’s what it’s made for. My wife and I always get a big chuckle when we see an suv or mini van that says sport.

It would be entirely unused by me. I think the number of times I hit triple digits in my 7k lb truck will be fewer than the number of fingers on one hand.

For the track nuts, sure, go for broke. But I suspect those who are prepping vehicles to that degree already have the means to bypass the governor? It doesn't have to be provided by Rivian.
