Sorry to reply with a pregunta/question. What are you looking to improve, gain vs the G1 R1x, might be an ask of yourself?

What has been altered is well documented, i.e. better cameras, faster computing, different lights, more adas options, torque, speed and other.
The wind noise in my Gen 1 is unbelievable. It has been to Service twice, and they were able to very slightly improve it, but it is still extremely loud. This may be a stupid reason to spend $30k more, but honestly I think it may be worth it. I love everything else about the truck-very few complaints.

Just curious what tires do you have?

I had a loaner R1S with about 15k miles on it running the factory 20s. I could not believe how much louder it was compared to my R1S running the 22s. Mine got even quieter when I replaced to factory Pirelli tires with some Michelin Defenders.

Depends on what’s important. I think it’s worth the upgrade if you plan to use the new features introduced in Gen2. A biggie is the Rivian Autonomy Platform. The camera resolution and location are a huge upgrade as well.

Lastly the matrix adaptive headlights are a big safety upgrade.

Gen1 is still an awesome vehicle too and if you don’t need those upgrades or prefer to save a bit of cash then Gen1 is a super value.

An upgrade would be tempting if I could apply the full value of my gen1 to a lease. The lease down payment is limited therefore I am paying and extra $5k in sales tax

You cannot compare the 20s to the 22s. They are different tires (all terrain vs road) and the ATs will always be louder. In this case, the OEM 20s (Pirelli Scorpion AT) are notoriously loud.

I took the leap a month ago. For me it was worth it. Everything about it is more refined and the extra range is a big jump 288 to 370. The changes aren't smack you in the face different but they are noticeable.

There are a bunch of threads on this, including one I did. It can be addressed. The Gen2's I drove had it is as well, not as bad as my truck did originally, but still very noticeable and would give me pause about upgrading as well.

I saw you are in Austin, if you make it up to Dallas anytime soon, let me know and I'll walk you through in person what I did to mitigate the noise with my truck. There can be several sources depending on the individual vehicle. In most cases, you can make significant gains.

Nope, it's more of a lateral move than an upgrade. It's not worth the $25-40K penalty

sorry,to hear that. I had some passenger side windnoise that was 100% fixed at the SC. Gen 1, Aug 2023 build.

Gen 2 I demoed was worse, also had crazy loud HVAC fan.

I've seen the Cali Dune in person and it is really tempting...
The Gen 2 on it's own wasn't compelling enough for me to want to get out of my Gen 1 Meridian Quad. With that out of the way, the Dune Edition made me really contemplate switching up. I think it's a fair price for all the extras you get, especially when up against the typical Tri-motor.

I had a loaner just recently, same exact spec as mine (build date 3 months later) except it still had the original Pirelli Scorpions. My god, they're loud compared to the Nokians I upgraded to. I thought it was just an end of life difference between the two when I swapped them off, but the ones on the loaner had plenty of tread.

Also my truck has had the jounce line swap, so driving the loaner was a huge reminder of how good my R1T has become as a result both in terms of noise, and overall handling.

If it's just the color, I'd wrap it.

I have a Gen 1 R1T, and had been thinking about springing for the Cali Dune. For those of you that have "upgraded," do you regret it? Is there a noticeable difference in the R1T platform?

As a shareholder, I recommend you buy the Dune and then one in every color to make sure you have every tire / interior / motor combination.

As a forum member with a Gen 1, I would recommend you perform the TSB / Customer campaigns to help improve your experience with Gen 1.

The biggest things that helped my experience was suspension fix (half-shafts, dampener, jounce lines and hubs), AC noise (Bracket relocate) and fresh tires (Pirelli XTM AT).

The OTA updates made a huge difference with driving dynamics.

I plan to wait till 2030 before I consider upgrading the Gen 1 and hope to see better battery options / better charging curves which lead to less time charging and more miles driven. I want my next vehicle to be able to tow like 300 miles and go 600 miles on 1 charge.

Until then I am happy with what the Gen 1 offers versus what is available out there today.

I have a reservation for Scout but I doubt I will go forward with it.

I have Toyo AT3 EVs, but the wind noise is coming from the driver's side mirror/door seal area. It's very loud, and Rivian hasn't been able to fix the issue.
