Opal is our beloved 2023 R1T. We have had her for right at 2 years, and she has been overall an excellent truck. We have really taken to the EV lifestyle and have enjoyed her immensely.
The only chronic issue that we have had with her is her fickle tailgate. For the first year and a half there were no problems. Then she started having trouble with recognizing whether or not her tailgate was closed. At first we noticed that the tailgate showed open on the driver screen even though it was closed. I would reopen and close the tailgate, and the issue would be corrected. As time went on, this happened more and more often. Then it would not correct itself and continued to show open. I put in a service ticket and got mobile service to come out. The technician replace both of Opal's tailgate lock mechanisms. The system worked properly for about a week and then went back to its old routine. I have done several hard resets to no avail. Then, all of a sudden, the tailgate will show closed for no apparent reason. The next time I open the tailgate, it will again show open after closing.
I am guessing that there must be some defective sensor somewhere that is causing this issue. Does anyone in the group have any idea where this sensor may be so that I can try to correct this situation?
