It actually does both. Just like AP mode has about 85% of the power that Sport does, Conserve will limit the power available to the motors, HVAC, etc...Negative. Conserve mode physically disconnects the rear motors. It has nothing to do with lowering power. Permanent magnet motors need to have some small amount of power applied in order to "coast", so Rivian used a physical disconnect to eliminate that unneeded power draw. Unlike an ICE, horsepower doesn't mean inefficiency unless you actually use it.
