What other vehicles do you drive? Some people will end up having the seat too far back in a pickup truck to be a similar distance from the dash as a car, but you have to adjust the seat a little further forward due to the upright seating.

Get your legs in the right place and then adjust the steering.

No one else can tell you how to make the seat comfy for you. Seats are totally subjective. We all have different body shapes and sizes combined with what we each think is actually comfortable.

All you can do is keep playing with the settings to find a position that works for you. If it's just a matter of the seats being hard, try a cushion until your seats are broken in a little more.

The seats were the final nail in the coffin for me. I am really hoping they can fix what I think are some of the most uncomfortable seats in a pickup truck. I sold mine because of it. Same issue, lower back pain, shoulder discomfort as well. I think the seat is not deep enough, doesn't sit flat enough, and the unadjustable head rest and bucket style seats push your shoulders into a kind of hunched position.

My initial impression wasn't all that great, but I adjusted the lumbar settings which did help reduce that "pushed forward at the shoulders" feeling a bit.

You really need to telescope the steering wheel. My wife had similar issues until I helped her adjust it. I’m guessing you’re inadvertently reaching more than you think.

I agree with others. I drive closer to the steering wheel in the R1S than other vehicles. But for me it’s because I’m used to driving more with my toes in other cars. And in the Rivian with the Regen driving with my toes makes my calf tired. So I need my full foot on the pedal for less fatigue.

I think the seats are great, maybe it is my shorter stature.

Picked the truck up and drove 5200 miles in 17 days including a 39 hour stretch from Pensacola, FL to Palm Springs, CA.

Never once felt uncomfortable, usually my knees will start to complain after 4 or 5 hours driving but these seats are higher than my Jeep GC and knees felt fine the whole trip.

I'm 6'1" and I find the seats to be comfortable for the most part. I have no problem with the height or distance from the pedals. the lower portion of the seat is especially comfortable. The only thing I've noticed is that if I slouch too much, I can very distinctly feel the upper contour of the seat in my back. It's not necessarily painful, but very present. I guess the side effect is that it's forcing me to improve my posture to relieve the pressure of that curved seam on my back.

I'm 6'2" and find the seats to be the most comfortable I've ever owned...which says a lot given the seats in our Volvo are amazing as well.

I think this thread is a great example of how thankless it must be to design vehicle seating. You have a 0% chance of making everyone happy. Everyone is just so very different that it's an impossible task.

The fixed headrest is an issue for me as well. My head is pushed forward more than it needs to be, and my neck muscles feeling sore/strained.. I will try out the lumber adjustment some more, but it makes the seat back uneven which is not what I need. I'm even wondering whether it's possible to retrofit that head pad to a thinner version, (and maybe a dial screw to give ~1-2" of adjustment).

Sorry to resurrect an old post. But I’m curious for those who found the seats uncomfortable if they soften to become more comfortable overtime. I find the seats hard and I generally like a firm seat. But even after 30 minutes of driving, I find soreness in my lower body. I’m just curious if that’ll soften overtime.

other cars are a Volvo, XC90 which has fantastic seats had a Tesla model Y that had mediocre seats
