Brand new member - forgive me if this is in the wrong spot. My R1T has bout 3,000 miles on it and has charged fine. Until yesterday on a business road trip it would not charge on high speed CCS chargers - charge port immediately turns red when charger starts! Rivian had me do hard resets twice and let the vehicle go to sleep and then a hard reset - no change. Spent the night at a hotel with J-1772 charger which fortunately still works but requires overnight stops. Can anyone please help!?!?’

If resets didn’t fix it and if it’s not a charging station malfunction I’m guessing your Central Gateway Module went bad:

I am experiencing the same issue. It had been a few months since I last used CCS, but it did work previously.

I went on a road trip Friday and experienced the same issue as you. We also tried several resets per advice from Rivian and different chargers, and could not get it to work. We ended up spending the night at a hotel on a 6.6 kW level two charger.

I have an appointment with the Service Center next week.

I had the same issue and experience. Required for the module to be replaced as others have stated. Mine was quite a tragic experience since it left me stranded in middle of MA and Rivian refused to tow because J plug was working.

I had wondered about this since I rarely (never)DC charge when not on a long distance trip. Is it common /advisable to attempt a fast charge locally before heading out? I did a 4 minute charge prior to my last trip.

I doubt that this is a common issue, but clearly it is something that should be tested before you head out of town - a feature not normally used, but absolutely vital on a long distance trip. You don't want to get 250 away from home, and then have to cancel your trip, and limp home over a couple of days.

Thanks to everyone for your help! Looks like I’m at hotels to charge overnight to get home! First appointment in Portland is the March 22 - nothing in Seattle - makes me think there are a LOT of broken Rivians - maybe I should keep my Tesla that I have for sale….

I would. I dc fast charged twice when I got the truck to test it out. Haven't tried it since in the past 7 months. Before I try a long trip I will make a trip to the nearby ea station.

My T was delivered last week with the "Fast Charging unavailable..." message showing. Great final QC...

It's at SC now and they are ordering a "Charge Port Door Latch".

Seems difficult to believe that this is causing the problem rather than the module as stated here previously.

Anyone had this part replaced before?

Maybe that fixed it? Seems like a software reset can fix some charging issues so I assume a software update would be like a reset.

Perhaps so - or maybe they had a bug and fixed it although the release did not mention charging…. Makes it difficult to decide on the next step - other than trying another brand of CCS charger on down the road. This one is an EZstop…
