In what world are these types of paint issues acceptable on a brand new $75k+ (now $95k+) vehicle?

My R1S was delivered today in this state after allegedly going through a thorough PDI. It took less than 5 minutes for me to notice most of these issues.

As I was walking through the issues with the service team on the phone this week I kept finding more issues, paint and beyond.

A new car of any value should be free of scratches and chips in the paint. There are some sloppy areas too... I think I have maybe one of those issues on mine and no paint chips.

The door sills are common/ acceptable but all the outward facing body panels are not IMO. There are drips and runs and popped paint bubbles. I wouldn't accept that one.
My door sills is like that too. Have a service appt this coming monday and a few other minor stuff.
Did you actually accept the vehicle with that shitty paint job?

I don't have a paint job like that. I'm talking about the caulk in the door sills. That's pretty common.

It may be common, but I wouldn't call it acceptable.
Depends on the car. With this one you aren’t paying for perfect door sills. At the price point they are asking now it’s something to be expected considering the performance and overall capabilities of the vehicle. Perfect starts at around 250.

If my Rolls came off the line like that they’d be redoing it for sure same with my Bentley. My Audi that’s a similar price to Rivian has some excessive caulking in a few door sills too. The lightning is going to have cosmetics like this too, and have you ever seen a Tesla?

I think lots of people on here aren’t very realistic when it comes to what to expect from mass production vehicles and the difference between those and hand built vehicles. I agree that there shouldn’t be paint bubbles and runs and chips on the exterior but I had some swirl marks and imperfections on every car I’ve bought.

There’s a reason why guys who are anal with vehicles make a detail appointment the day they take delivery. I saw someone doing a Porsche GT3 fresh from the dealer that had a shit load of imperfections in that paint and that thing starts at 180.

Agree to disagree. I've owned dozens of vehicles all across the pricing spectrum. I've never seen this level of issue. "Tesla has it, too" isn't a justification. You also admit that not every unit has these issues, which means it is possible to do it right.

I don't expect perfection, and I also don't expect every unit to be acceptable off the line, but I do expect someone along the path from paint booth to delivery to find these issues and correct them prior to delivery. That's the bigger issue here.

Door has definitely been adjusted...i see a brand new bolt with no paint, and shifting that door around probably caused a lot of the chips and scratches....just careless work there...sorry man...I'd return that one within the 7 day period.

Ur car is whacked. I don't care what other people said. I'm a rivian lover. But that shit is not acceptable on any level of car price

Perfection is unattainable but I’ve actually never seen this level of low quality. My first thought was that this car had either been in a light accident with botched repairs or finished at the service center by someone without much skills.
However, unlike Donald here, I’m not familiar with the perfection that is to be expected from Rolls or Bentleys.
Having worked at Mercedes many years ago, this would have been unimaginable (and unacceptable) back then and probably nowadays too.
I agree with the ones who say that this level of low quality is unacceptable (regardless of the vehicle’s price point).
