Oh, sorry to hear that. At least they've already diagnosed the problem, so hopefully they get your R1 back in your driveway quickly.
Estimated repair time is 7 hours and change to do the AC module. Will be gone probably a week is my guess with towing both ways and a weekend.

Our R1T (VIN 224xx) was produced in March, 2023. We have not had this issue and have been recently charging only on AC.

There are at least 2 other threads about this. Seems to be widespread enough that if this really takes several hours per vehicle to repair it may strain some of the Service centers.

It's not clear to me that this campaign is associated with the early charging termination problem some of us have been experiencing. Rivian has indicated that should be fixed in the, hopefully, next OTA. It's not clear, but to me, this campaign seems to reflect a hard failure with a complete inability to AC charge at all. I thinks it's a major assumption at this point that these problems are one and the same and not 2 different problems.

Charge at home and work...both L2's. Going to use the RAN for the first time today on the way home.

Haven't had any issues with charging at all.

Haven't had any issues with charging at all.
Just picked up my 6/23 build for this exact issue. Rivian replaced the onboard charger. Great service on Rivian’s end.

Interesting, I'm having the same issue, my truck was built in April of 22, but the onboard charger was replaced in the Fall of 22.
It hasn't happened often, once this evening and once a few weeks ago. These are the only instances I can recall.

I did a test charge at EA. The R1S no longer AC charged afterwards…

I have this issue and got an appointment setup for Monday. It just happened tonight and they got me an appt first thing Monday morning.

I can’t charge at home. I get the vehicle error on my app and red light around the charging port.

It’s a June 2023 build

I’m at the DCFC getting it to 100%

I believe my issue is a software bug.

The update coming will fix my issue plus lower temps in the coming months.

I was able to charge last night at 30 A and get a full charge.

I think the issue is during the middle of the day. The charging handle gets extremely hot and errors out.

In the middle of the night that’s not an issue, but it also helps to lower the amperage until the software fixes is out.

That’s why I’ve decided to cancel my appointment for Monday until the update is out.

For now I will just charge at 30 A in the middle of the day and 48 hours in the middle of the night at home.

@MidnightRivian it appears the next pending software release may address your issue:
  • For AC charging, if the connector becomes too warm, the vehicle automatically lowers the power to safely continue charging, and a message appears on the driver and center displays.

I think so and so does Rivian support.

That's why we decided to cancel the Monday emergency appointment and I will use my workaround of charging at 30 amps during the day and 48 amps at night if I need it until the update comes out.

I am able to charge at full 48 amps and 11 kw for the last 1.5 hours.

Temperature is a solid 25 degrees cooler in the garage and 20 degrees cooler outside compared to yesterday.

The cooler temps is the main reason why I can charge at full power compared to charging errors yesterday and loss of AC charging ability.

The software update should help my situation.

I’m having same L2 charging error as this (R1S picked up about 3 weeks ago, initially charged fine, but one day stopped taking L2 charge altogether, DCFC still works). What was the fix for you? Thanks in advance.
