R1S Slow to Wake Up When Locked

I don't know if this is related to the 2023.34.0 update or not, but both my wife and I have noticed that Rosey doesn't wake up until we're right next to her. It just started in the last couple of days. She used to wake up when we were 15-20 feet away, and now the handles don't pop out until we stand right next to the driver's door for a few seconds. We both use our iPhones as keys (my wife has a 14 Pro and I have an X). At first she thought it was because she closed the Rivian app on her phone, but I'm having the same issue and never bother to close apps so I know it's running. Tonight she had the app running in foreground on her phone and it still didn't wake up until she was right next to her. This is happening when we are out - at home it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I posted about PAAK being unresponsive or unreliable. Lots of threads on here about it. Some have the issue, some don’t. Nothing to really do to improve it except have your phone out of your pocket - even then, it can take time. Otherwise, use the FOB and buttons on it.

I’ve noticed the same with PAAK on iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Mine has never worked from 10-15 feet away. It is worse with the last update, now I usually have to pull the phone out of my pocket or resort to hitting the unlock button in the app.

My R1T does the same (iPhone 13 ProMax), but inconsistently, sometimes causing me to stand awkwardly by the truck for a few seconds until it unlocks. I’ve learned to approach my truck a little more slowly, which allows me more time to appreciate the view of the R1T in a sea of cars with less personality…

Mine definitely seems to be sleeping more. Not sure what to do. It used to be once I unlocked my phone it would wake up immediately if I had the app open but not any longer.

In the 4 months I've had my R1S, PAAK has been the most frustrating and unpredicatable aspect of ownership. I would use the FOB if it wasn't so large and functionally useless as a keyring.

This. I have to get right next to the car for it to open. But I think this is part of dealing with the vampire drain.

Perhaps the honeymoon is over for us - we've only had it 5 weeks now and the first 4 weeks she would wake up as we walked towards her...As if she was happy to see us again. Something changed this week, but we also had an iPhone update this week too - too many variables.

Not just apple, I have a S23 and unlock has same extended delay response. Have had my S since May and it had always been responsive (unlock when I'm 5-10 feet away). Locking behavior is the same. My guess is whatever they tweaked tied to vampire drain on last update had an effect on the unlock?

My vampire drain is totally fixed. I definitely traded that for the insenstive PAAK.

That seems to be the logical explanation. I'll take 1 or 2 miles more vampire drain per day over the current unreliable situation.

I agree. Since the update my phone has to come out of my pocket for my R1S to unlock. Nuisance
