Shorter trips are most definitely not better efficiency.
I have been driving an EV for 10 years. My efficiency metrics on short trips with high regen because of stop and go and longer trips where I am not regening prove you wrong.

Ok. Well my experience in my Rivian think you’re wrong. What’s your efficiency in your Rivian?

Not impressed with my efficiency… and it seems to be getting worse.

21” R1T
I’m at 2.2 mi/kWh over the last 21k miles, also on 21s. I took my truck into the service center and had them look at my efficiency because I started seeing things get worse this summer. And even now with a warm battery fresh from charging, no cabin heat, and in-town 45mph driving I cannot break into the green on the efficiency graph. SC said everything was normal. Even had engineers in Normal look at the logs.

Tires always at 48 psi cold (garage compressor with hose reel and inflator with gauge makes it easy)
No RTT or cargo bars
Generally drive pretty normal - same pace as other traffic
This summer I’d be cruising 65mph on the interstate (in the city, with traffic) and would be maybe max out at 2.3. I’ve never seen anything above that on the highway at any speed.
I feel like the guys running 20” A/T getting 2.4 are just fucking with us.

I don't have a Rivian - see my signature. I have yet to drive an EV that got better efficiency on longer trips at higher speeds without much regen.

My best efficiency is around 55 mph on the county roads. Really slow and really fast kills efficiency.

I am confused by your signature.

My R1T reservation is on hold, as it states in my signature.

I am waiting for the power tonneau cover to be configurable again.

If there is something wrong with your brakes or tires that is eating your efficiency they will get hot. Just touch them right after getting where you're going. But be careful, if you did just mash the brakes they can be hot enough to burn you.
I have found many problems doing this test on trailer wheels.

It was a phone issue. Your entire signature line is not visible in portrait mode. I flipped my phone to horizontal and could see what you mean.

I have no idea what’s going on anymore. Had some warm days here locally and drove around without any AC or heat of any kind. Was finally getting into the green again.

So I reset my trip meter. Last 500 miles averaged 1.65 - abysmal. People with tractor tires reporting 2.4 around here. :)

After resetting the meter, last time I drove I was averaging 2.1 over 25 miles. Came back to the car today after charging overnight (and not reaching the charge limit thanks to 3 month old bug) and my trip meter says 1.55mi/kwh. Charging session says no energy was used to heat battery or cabin.

Look at this. If I divide miles by kWh, it’s 1.11. So where is it getting 1.57? And how did I go from 2.1 to 1.57 while it sat in the driveway?

Starting to think this meter has gone bonkers. Cause guess what, since I’ve posted this thread my lifetime meter has gone up from 2.11 to 2.12

I feel like I don’t understand how averages work anymore. Averages don’t increase when you factor in lower numbers to them.
