I'm planning on installing a 50 watt HAM radio and am trying to decide if I have to go through the firewall and direct to the 12V battery or if I can get away with tapping into the fuse box. Does anyone have an opinion/recommendation on a fuse to tap into from the passenger or drivers side box? Thanks to everyone who has put this info together.

More than power, I haven't bothered yet because I haven't figured out how to go about mounting an antenna.

I haven't fond a good option for the antenna either. For now I'm planning on running the cable out the top of the rear door and placing a magnetic antenna in the middle of the metal portion of the roof between the two panes of glass.
I actually haven't taken delivery yet. Scheduled for Feb-March 24. So I'm still in the planning phase. Maybe someone else will come up with a better ham radio setup by then, but so far all I've found on the forums are others asking questions. Like penguins on the edge of a iceberg waiting for someone else to be the first one to jump in. The R1S hams are waiting for someone else to take the leap and drill a hole in there roof.

I see a bunch of posts about hitting the driver's panel for fuses that go to sleep/switched. Any on the passenger side that also are switched?

Looks like the R1T and R1S share the same fuse panels, with that in mind.. check out the R1T passenger side fuse panel below and the circuit description key below that.
I'd look at fuse F11 "Amplifier" as that is definitely switched.

Thanks - hoping for one the standard sized fuses. F11 is a 40amp proprietary fuse.

Has anyone been able to find the Emergency Communication Module or Communication Unit? Trying to disable eSim and external communication.

Guess you'll just have to pull them one at a time and see what happens.

Please be sure to document results each time you pull a fuse ?

JK... but with Rivian's refusal to release info on it's circuits, it may just come to that.

I might ask them and say I'm gonna start yanking either way. They can tell me or schedule me for a bricked truck, their choice.

IIDK how far up the food chain you'll have to go to get that info, but knowing Rivian.. even the SC's don't have that info o_O

I mean they have already claimed the fuse circuits are protected IP....

My power hungry VIOFO A139 Pro dashcam just died a few days ago, wondering if it had power starvation issues from my mirror tap. Might have to go directly to the fuse panel. Thank you guys for all the updates in this thread. Will make it quicker for me to go hunting for the right fuse hopefully on the passenger side.

I have a very power hungry dashcam that has failed a few times via my mirror tap but works absolutely fine when I plug the manufacturer provided USB-C cable in with a good sized power brick away from the vehicle. It even fails with a MacBook USB-C cable w/ power brick.

I ordered the hardwire kit from the dashcam manufacturer so I assume the provided cable and fuse taps will be sufficient. In reviewing the list of fuses, I was hoping to tap the passenger side but it's unclear which fuse to tap. I've seen F11 (amplifier) mentioned a few times. Have there been suggestions on other passenger side fuses to tap that will supply sufficient power when "ignition" is on?

Otherwise I think I might go with one of the 12V Port fuses. Do we know which is which? I'm unclear what F46, F51 and F54 for the R1S are. My guesses below.
  1. F46 12V Port #1 Frunk/Under Dash?
  2. F51 12V Port #2 Under second row screen?
  3. F54 12V Port #3 (GG Tunnel for R1T, but what is it for R1S?)
  4. F59 12 V Port #4 R1S Luggage

To hopefully abate some of the questions I know will likely come from posting this information:
  • I do not yet know what all of the signal names are for - there's still a lot here to learn and discover, but please don't hammer me with questions about signal names
  • I have not verified all of this information yet, but the five or so fuses I have examined on the passenger's side seem to match the data provided above 100%
  • Rivian did not want you to have this information and you should take every opportunity to crap on Rivian for not providing this data in the first place, like every other car manufacturer on the planet.
