Nothing that hasn't been said already, just a solid update.

Scheduled charge and Blended braking:
You had to know that the scheduled departure was coming for this time of year with road trips and cold temps, but the blending braking is just the cherry on top.

Wipers:
For those that mentioned the wipers, if you have a situation where it is misting and you just need the wipers to wipe once, just blip the washer button on the end of the stalk and it will wipe once. This update looks to be more of a "oh shit, I need max wipers now, can't wait for the computer to decide to go to max and need it to stay there" or "I wish the wipers were more/less sensitive." Can we give a shout out to Rivian for implementing the wiper sensitivity on the stalk instead of the way Tesla does? My friends love their teslas... except for the way they have to dig into the menus to get the sensitivity changed.

Wish they would add a selection on the headlight menu like the wipers that will allow fog lights with auto low beams

You can control it with voice commands in the Rivian and in the Tesla too

My last 5 suv were Range Rovers. They didn't have an EV when I put my deposit down in 2019 on a Rivian. I love the R1s it's just a bit on the harsh side. An would love a heated front glass again, and maybe something to deal with the ice build up on the lights. Hopeful but we will see, I may go back to the Range Rover EV when they pull it off.
Someone here had a brand new RR and R1S which is the best of both worlds I guess. I bought the R1S for the tech and performance but if money were no issue I would definitely go with the new RR and buy Rivian 3+ years from now when it will be so much better. Wish they had a R1S lease because I would've went that route. I can't imagine people wanting these 2023 models 5 years from now when the battery tech will probably radically better than now. The cameras alone already look like they are from 2020 and won't age well.

I think looks are fine and will hold up for a while, power blows away my RR that had a supercharged V8. Looks on the RR are about as good as it gets for these large SUVs. I'm on a street in Tahoe that is always the last to be plowed so the lift on the air suspension is a must on both cars. Battery on my quad motor is fine, I go from the coastside to Tahoe with a short stop to juice up about 25-30%. I had to do the same stop for gas in the RR. I make it back from Tahoe to the coast with 80% charge no problem. My wife has a older BMW I3 that is used for short drives. That thing only gets about 60 miles on a charge. Now that's a little out of date!

I bought it because it looked like a electrified RR and had the room I was looking for. Wanted air suspension because I had it on a Jeep Grand Cherokee years ago and loved it. My XC90 didn't have air suspension and was impossible to get on the East Coast unless I did a special order. I was just hoping it would be a much more luxurious ride but it's just not. The update did fix it but all I can really handle is AP and soft settings otherwise it's just a frustrating on choppy roads. I just had a R1T loaner and I actually thought it drove worse which surprised me with the wheelbase length. My buddy has a nice Yukon Denali and when he drives I'm like man I should just get this because of the ride quality.

I'll probably stick it out because I have other vehicles but I wouldn't trust it on long trips and have been burned in the past. I don't have the time or patience with a family to play navigation games and having to factor in a bazillion calculations to get somewhere and hope I don't get stranded. Public charging is a complete joke at this point and extremely unreliable. Hoping the NACS makes a difference but everything is in it's infancy and will take a long time to sort out. I'm just glad that I hardly have to use public charging to really feel that pain.

60 miles is wild in terms of range but could be cool for local driving like you mentioned.

Looks like an install of 2023.50.01 popped up on ElectraFi today with a couple pending installs. Guessing they found an issue of some sort during testing.

Very weird on the R1T as mine after the updates a while back rides like a Cadillac, way too plush. Really must be variation from vehicle to vehicle. My family prefers the floaty ride but I like feeling the road.

They added a couple of new notes on the 2023.50.1

  • Fixed a very rare issue that caused range loss of 4% per day on some vehicles due to intermittent wake events during sleep.
  • Improved the warning zone for the motor temperature gauge to take into account vehicle pre-conditioning, especially in cold weather conditions.
  • Fixed a very rare issue that impacted charging at cold temperatures for some vehicles with large-pack batteries.

Nice. I hope this addresses my vampire drain issue. I lose about 2.5% per day (everything off, no PAAK) and my vehicle wakes up every 2 hours and stays awake for an hour!

I obviously knew it wasn't an issue, but nice to see they're going to change this display. As I was preconditioning into a charger where the battery started at 34F, one by one the motor temps turned orange. :p

Judging by the number of concerned posts I've seen about this, I can only imagine the number of tickets that folks were submitting to Rivian about this.

Anything that helps standby drain is super welcome! That's cool!
Unless Rivian has a very different understanding than I do about the meaning of "very rare", this part of the update won't do anything for most people.
