I mounted my level 2 in the garage so I (or a guest) can pull up just outside the garage and still reach.

That said, you could always just throw a tow rope around the Subaru and drag it out with the Rivian (Subaru in neutral optional)!

All is good. Need to find a decent battery to replace the current one. Anyone have a preference?

I used to put excide in cars, I know optima gets good reviews


It used to be the best deal was the mid level warranty, but now a lot of batteries don't even have the option to buy a premium warranty.

I think it is more about where you get it. If you have a AAA membership they will replace on site and warranty nationwide and put on on the truck they roll of you have a problem in the future. Costco is good too

Does anyone use a J1772 extension cable? If not, why? Is it generally bulkier and costs more per ft?(The lectron one is only 20ft long for $199)

I got and have it under the rear trunk. Doesn't hurt to have it. That's my thought.

I loved the Optima battery I put in my old Infiniti.

My other vehicle is a Subaru Ascent. And I used to have a Subaru Forester.

One of the first things I did after I bought both those vehicles is to swap the battery. I got the Odyssey in my Forester and now Optima in my Ascent. Group 35 IIRC, not sure about the Outback.

Nice, I see it on sale and a 10% of coupon too. I wish they would come out with a dcfc adapter, but that is much more complex

I do. I replaced my 14-50 50A extension cable with a 40A J1772 extension cable. It rolls up into a very small pouch that I toss on top of my spare in R1T. The 14-50 extension is huge in comparison. I use it while camping with my airstream so I can easily reach and charge my truck. (Portable would not reach by itself for the camping case.)

I use a boat/RV shorepower cord, because I had one. If I didn’t, I’d still use an extension on the input side, but your needs may vary. I can use that cord for my RV too, and just as a general power extension. I could plug it into the truck outlets and provide power farther away from them. They are also a lot cheaper. I can’t see any advantage to a dedicated J extension

The usual go to is a rolled up towel that you close the window on. A pro move is to use a pool noodle like below which you need to tote around with you, but it is much more durable for extreme hot/cold/rain/snow/etc

It seems the gear IT j1772 adapter keeps getting sold out, but they have a pigtail style one for almost the same price. Some might even like it better so added the link.

I wonder if there is a run on some of these components with summer travel and more EVs <gets tinfoil hat>
