Is this where you started and ended on the inner door frame? Thanks!

yup. you don't have to start it exactly where I did, but you can see how starting it there hides the seam pretty well. that's generally the area where I used the adhesive back to keep it in place

OP, did you ever apply the rubber to the front bottom part of the front door triangle? I’ve seen that fix floating around YT. I’m wondering if that helps at all
i tried it, but it made no difference for me. i think that fix is for people with a defective seal around the A pillar. if all your wind noise is coming from that front triangle window area, Rivian can fix that by replacing it with a new seal

Thank you so much for creating this thread. I am at my wit's end with the high-speed wind noise. I am willing to give anything a try. I have been to the SC three times in the Bay Area and all they can tell me is it is "within spec" and the "smoke test showed no leaks". I painter-taped half my car and it did not make a huge difference.

A $30k Tesla is quieter than my R1S. I mean what is the purpose of double windows if you have seal noise issues? BTW my noise starts at 50+mph. Sounds way worse with crosswinds.

Anyhow do you have an alternative for the "Trim-LOK Rubber Cord Seal" seems like it's out of stock on Amazon. Most of the things I see are 6mm (0.24")or 7mm (0.28").

If they can fix the noise issue and add USB audio MP3 playback, it would be almost perfect.

Would this work, Amazon?

SouthSF told me the same thing. Said it's normal wind shear.

if the trim lok is out of stock, i would try the 7mm (0.28inch), rather than the 6mm that tate16t linked.

https://a.co/d/9qGb3ry

i bought the 0.25inch trimlok as that was what hamdan used in his post. however, there are some areas in my car that seem a bit loose, and I wish was tighter.

basically, you want the round seals to push out onto the car and window, so it forms a tighter seal. so erring on the bigger side should be better.

i actually would want to try 0.28 or 0.3inch to see if it would make it even quieter. trimlok made a 0.38inch that i bought but is way too thick.

@ne0phyte , how exactly is the L shaped door frame piece oriented? On both the door side and body side? Seems like I can squeeze it in a few ways but I keep thinking the L part must mean something here…

7 is whispers in mine lol. I can be parked in the driveway and 7 is basically off. Anything below 15 for me is horrible low. Around 25 is when I say the system actually gets loud enough to let’s say cause people in car to yell to be heard. 15 and I can still have a regular conversation with a passenger
Soft reset your entertainment (press hold outside steering wheel buttons) then come back and thank me.

Also, my windows are moving the TrimLok around. Seems like it makes it too tight. I took off the second vertical piece in the side closer to rear and just stopped it at the top corner. Hopefully this works better. I even had the passenger window get stopped due to too much resistance. Sometime it works and sometimes it stops when doing auto roll up.

I wonder if this would be considered a legitimate reason to file a lemon law claim. It’s a significant impairment which prevents you from operating the vehicle for long distances due to the ineffective wind seal design.

You patted yourself on the back way too soon. I have tried that and a full restart and no difference

Color me sad. Every time that happens to me (usually after a software upgrade) the reset is a fix.

Put in a ticket for the next time you go to a service center? Good luck!

make sure you are tucking the trim lok inside the existing seal crevice. if its exposed you'll get issues with closing the windows. This is where using some type of tool to tuck it in is helpful. I used a small guitar pick, but some type of small rod ( like a tiny screwdriver, toothpick) can also be used to tuck it in

if it’s still coming out after you tucked it in, then maybe your seal is already tighter than mine

I don't think there's much more tucking it can go. .25" seems a little big since when the window closes, it'll squeeze it back up a bit. Squeezes back up on the passenger side more than driver side.

I'll see how much this helps on a long drive this weekend. I still need to do the door frame. How do I orient the L shape?
