Rivian seems to turn off the hotspot when I leave the vehicle with my key fob. Even if pet mode is enabled. Is there a way to keep hotspot turned on? Does someone have to physically sit in the driver seat to sense weight? Or do I have to leave the key fob inside the vehicle with passengers sitting in the rear seat or passenger seat, or another method?

Just buckle the driver seatbelt and hotspot will stay on

Just note that doing either of those things greatly increases battery consumption as the car won't ever sleep.

Thanks. So it’s not enabled by sensing weight or key fob? Even with seat belt buckled / camp mode on but I leave the vehicle with the key fob, it will work?
Correct. If you put on camp and buckle the seatbelt, hotspot will stay on forever.

Yup, we use camp mode a lot at practice for one kid while the other two are working on their school laptops in the R1S. It's perfect for keeping the climate, radio, and WiFi going without the rest and not timing out either

@jeeden i turned on camp mode today. When I came back, the vehicle was turned off. I thought camp mode keeps the AC and hotspot on? Why would it turn off and car is hot?

Are you sure you turned it on? Just to make sure,.you need to click on the tent and then in the upper right corner select "stay on"

Also if you put it in drive after selecting camp mode it will revert to normal

@jeeden i press “start”. See attached

I called Rivian service. They told me camp mode does NOT keep the AC on. Camp mode just makes the exterior of the vehicle quiet. Lights and sounds are turned off. They said that Pet Mode keeps the AC on. They claim that there is no option to keep the hotspot on. Driver has to be in the driver seat. It worked last time but maybe it’s because I came back sooner than this time.
Are you guys sure camp mode keeps the AC and the hotspot turned on? Or maybe it’s set to a certain time limit?

Ok I see the confusion I think. So the whole screen is kind of "camp mode" as and the options can be used individually.

The camp courtesy mode is so you don't bug other campers nearby and turns off all exterior lights, sounds, and proximity locking. Once it’s engaged, climate controls will also run at a quieter level.

You want to turn on the "stay on" on the right side of the screen. It keeps the vehicle fully awake so you can use climate control, play music, and use other features. ‘Stay off’ turns off all the outlets, Gear Guard video and most other features, including the Center display.

@jeeden I keep it on Normal. How’s that different than Stay on? You’d think Normal operates to keep everything on.

or do you think it’s a matter of camp mode on + drivers seat belt inserted?

So "normal" is normal behavior which would be for the vehicle to stop climate, turn off outlets, power down things like the vehicle normally does. "Stay on" means it will keep everything on all the time which is not a "normal" behavior for the car.

If you keep the seatbelt buckled I know the climate will run, but I don't think it keeps outlets and wifi on.

Camp mode "stay on" is what you want I think
