Running something like an A/C unit off an extension cord is more likely to damage the A/C unit due to a voltage drop caused by the extension cord. Always use as short an extension cord as possible, and get the heaviest extension cord you can (8 awg if possible).Yes big miss by Rivian. Your best bet is to buy a portable AC unit, long extension cord and plug it into the 120V outlet in the Rivian. I don't know anyone that tested one to make sure it wouldn't overload the outlet but that should provide some relief in one small room in your house. Big downside is that it likely uses at least twice the electricity as your mini split so use it sparingly. Other option is to go into the Rivian and sit in there with the ac on.
