I have a good bit of phantom power loss on my 2023 R1T. I have closed the app as well as turned proximity unlocking and Gear Guard off at home. After not driving the car for 24 hours, the charger still pulled 15.7kw to top the charge back off. That still seems like a LOT - especially compared to our EQB and former C40 and i3s, which were all basically zero.

Is that normal?

Are there other features you folks recommend looking at that may be causing this drain?

It’s worth noting that my vehicle was sold as new, but apparently had undisclosed rail damage so there is an off chance something may still not be repaired correctly (have had multiple repairs to correct sloppy pre-delivery work)

FWIW The energy measurement is coming from the Sense monitor in our electric panel.

That seems like a lot, if you leave it for 24 hours without being plugged into the charger how much battery charge do you lose?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Be sure no seatbelts are plugged in.

Also be sure you didn’t inadvertently turn up the charge level in the app or something.

15.7kWh is a lot. Way out of spec.

Seems to be about 8-9 miles of range. Will look at percentages moving forward.

That’s a lot. See this thread which talks about vampire drain but nothing like what you are seeing. Most experience about 1% per day, which is not acceptable but seems to be the norm.

15kwh is 45 miles of range and an insane amount of drain. It would have to be running the AC or heat for that 24 hours.

Yes, make sure your AC/Heat shuts down as soon as you exit the vehicle and it locks.

In that case I'm suspicious of the charger. 8-9 miles of range would only be 2-3kWhr out of the battery pack. Which is still pretty high phantom range, but nowhere near 15.

If the battery is only losing 2-3 I'm not sure why the charger would be pulling out 15. What charger are you using? I'm actually wondering if it is a reporting issue on the charger side, might be worth comparing to your electric meter for a sanity check.

Oh good point… I never thought about it potentially being the charger itself. It’s an older, preexisting 16amp Bosch hardwired EVSE. We have been putting off upgrading until our remodel later this year. I guess I could pretty easily swap the hardwire to a plug and use the Rivian charger.

15KW is more than sleeping in the car with the ac on for 24 hours would pull.

It reports data on the vehicle's state even when not driving, every sleep period, every time it wakes, beginning and end SOCs, etc etc. If it's never sleeping it will show that clearly.
