Anyone else seen or had this issue? My rear hatch is catching the roof.

Looking from the back I can tell the roof rear plastic has been bowed in.

I'd love to use my rear hatch, but scared to!
Booked a service appointment, but of course it is months out.

Anyone have any ideas on how to adjust or fix?

I had the same issue appear on mine after over a year of ownership. Luckily it happened right before my scheduled SC appointment so no damage was done.
They realigned trim and it’s better now.

Mobile service tech can slightly move the tailgate enough to resolve the contact issue. You'll need to make a service center appointment in addition for Rivian to properly adjust the tail gate. They have a dedicated alignment rig to do so.

I had the same problem and in my case, the interference was enough that it prevented the lift gate from opening.

I had the same issue after a year, it's a 2 person job to realign so I was told remote service van was not an option. Schedule an appointment and limit its use...

I had this issue (very slight). Mobile service fixed it. I know that there have been a lot of complaints about Rivian service, but I’ve loved the mobile service. They are quick and it’s super easy to schedule. The guy here who did was great. I’m basically avoiding the SC like the plague so fingers crossed I don’t get any big issues (knock on wood, etc. etc.).

ATL service center called and pulled my service forward to next week! I'll take some before and after photos.

Thanks everyone for replying.

Same issue here. Probably will adjust it myself since service rep said it is an in-shop fix and it's a 7 hr round trip.

I had this as well and just got it fixed. Had to be a shop visit because they said it was a 2-person job. They replaced the roof appliqué due to it being out of spec and realigned the lift and tailgate.

It was bad enough for me that the liftgate wouldn’t open. Now it’s better than new.

Had the same issue, mobile service came out to fix it, was fixed for a few days and now it’s back.

I have this issue currently. In my case the first several months of ownership there was no issue. Then the trim piece on the roof came loose on one side and was about half inch higher than the other side - basically the piece on the back of the roof (between the roof glass and hatch) was tilted up on the passenger side. I had that addressed at a service visit and subsequently it started to exhibit the interference between that trim piece and the hatch just like OP and others here. In my case warm weather makes it much worse and my theory is the plastic trim pieces expand slightly in the heat and just catch. It is just in one small spot and while I have a follow up service in November I am tempted to take a file to it and see if just shaving off a tiny amount of material fixes the issue.
